Pinoy nclex takers

Published

Hi there! I'm from the Philippines and migrated here in the US short after graduation and passing the local boards. I failed my first nclex-rn exam and I'm currently reviewing to take it again soon. I wish to hear from our fellow "kababayans" who share the same experience with me. My prayers for success to all of us who are preparing for the nclex! Good luck! :):):)

I came to Cali a year ago and applied for the exam.. and still waiting for the exam.. they sent me the requirements and my school sent it to them.. and now they are asking for more requirements like the school's certificate to operate as a nursing school. But we already sent them my PRC certificate of passing.. So i wonder.. if this is "normal"

It's really a hit or miss. My friend went back to the Philippines to study her BSN. It was a long and regretful process for her in order for her to finally sit down for her NCLEX, but they didn't ask her school to provide proof that they were allowed to operate as a nursing school. It wasn't until she was applying for her MSN that they wanted proof of everything under the sun. She was lacking 4 courses and she had to provide proof that her clinical rotations were adequate. They found that they weren't and she was asked to take a refresher course with a clinical component in order to be considered for admission into the MSN program. Luckily she already had taken that because she knew she wasn't ready to work on the floor as a RN after passing her NCLEX. Luckily the school accepted that. So I think you will find over all it's a hit or miss. Some people have been able to breeze by with the BRNs asking little while others have had hurdle after hurdle. Just be a bit more patient and hopefully it works out for you! Good Luck.
