Pinoy Caregivers to Spain

Published

Hello!:)

I am an Registered Nurse here in the Philippines, an NCLEX passer as well in 2007, passed CGFNS and IELTS...I have been waiting for the US to reopen but sadly up to now..i am still here. Well, last December I did apply in an agency of POEA (Proyecto Piloto) to work as a caregiver in Spain...The minimum requirements are: Local RN and Spanish language attendance of at least 120 hours...Well, i took time studying (again!!!) Spanish language at Instituto de Cervantes! Whew fees are really high!!! and a module would cost you P2500 for 30 hours only...Well, i can now converse in spanish fluently but up to now there is no news about us going to Spain. The POEA has at least 200+ job orders for caregivers to spain and some of the agencies that cater to applicants are Kr*** and Mab***** agencies...Well, they say that March or April could be our possible deployment...Weve been waiting for almost 3 mos now and we really hope and we are praying that we can really go to Spain very soon...Many of us applicants are NCLEX passers but we will work there as caregivers!!! not RNs..our only consolation is that Spain is part of EU group and we can got our citizenship much easier than working somewhere else plus the fact that Spain is much more like the Philippines in some cultural aspects...

Are there anyone here who has application to work in Spain...Please do update us of your status..Thank you very much.

Gracias a todos y Adios:wink2::wink2::)

they've started already working. what agency were you? they were from Kr....

Im here in Madrid but i dont work as a caregiver.

how can i send you a pm? i dont know how these things work...

You are unable to access the pm function here until you have 15 posts to your credit.

i felt sad and tears just came running down my cheeks when I read your message that is true that's also what I feel right now. So what happened to your application??I also passed all my exams and now waiting for my approval of i-140 in US but now we have a financial problem my mom who's working in Israel as a caregiver is now coming home because her visa is expired already and i've gotta go and could not wait for my US petition. I badly need a job.. we HAve rice crisis, oil price continues to rise, most hospitals are freeze hiring so even as a caregiver ...thanks for those people who are concerned enough to give us pieces of advices we really appreciate you.....and for us to fulfill our dream...maybe the 2year contract in UK as NVQ would be enough while waiting for my petition in US.....im ready to face the challenge i know God will help us....some works to call center....Maybe if you are in our shoes maybe you will do the same thing...

What can you say about our KABABAYANS (fellow countrymen) who are going there to take NVQ 3-4 they are registered nurses here, who are using student visa working in nursing homes and they are promised to received royal certification and can immigrate in any country opening their doors such as Canada, Australia and US.. they have to pay 200k+ and said they will be earning 700-1000 pounds do you think it would be enough for the expenses such as housing which will range from 50-80 pounds to add from that you have salary deduction for your fee 1500-1700 pounds for agency that you will be paying for fifteen months....and by student visa you can work 20 hrs and 20 hrs for the training which paid and you can work overtime...I think you'll just be working just to give the money for the agency...hayzzz..

I'm still weighing if to or not to go to UK...

Does not matter what any program promises, the nurse still has to go thru licensing as well as immigration for the country that they wish to work in. There is no program that just opens doors for you.

Just is not going to happen that way.

The UK also has a hiring freeze, and the funnier part of this is that you already hold the BSN, so why in the world does one think that if they go to the UK and take a training program there that it is going to open more doors for them?

Sorry, but not the case at all. Save your money. There is absolutely no reason for a program of this type, it is not going to help you in any way. It will not even permit you to remain in the UK when it is done, so that should tell you something as well about it.

this topic was aired last night in the news. i think the secretary of DOLE was the one being interviewed.he stated that a RN here in the philippines could apply to spain, but as a caregiver first (didnt say if its a nursing home) for i think 2 years(not sure). then they will evaluate your performance and fluency in their language if you will be qualified to work there as RN. they will just accept your credentials as a nurse in the philippines (dont know if you will still be taking their local exam).then if you got to be a RN there you can also transfer to other countries around EU.they even said you can earn upto 4000-6000 EU a month!

a lot of infos seems to be lacking in that interview... should we believe this or just wait some more for the result of the pilot batch?

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Sorry but to work elsewhere in the EU like it is described you need EU passport ie take Spanish citizenship, don't think you can do that after 2 years. Just living in a country for 2 years does not mean you will make EU requirements. citizen of country then EU will always be offered before rest of the world at the moment and expect it to stay that way for a long time.

Sorry, but Spain is under a hiring freeze for RNs, and they do not just accept the NLE from your country. Their language exam will need to be passed as well as their licensing exam in spanish.

And the other EU countries also have a hiring freeze in place as well, so no jobs in the other countries as well.

As a care-giver, you go there on a temporary work visa, not a permanent resident visa.

We have seen so much mis-information be given out that it has become a joke by your government officials. Next issue is that if someone spends two years as a care-giver, then they have no current work experience as an RN and that will keep them from getting a job.

Your government does not set the requirements for any other country, and by some of their talk, you would think that they did. It comes down to the fact that no one is going to be working as an RN in Spain after staying there for two years. Just not going to happen.

Suzanne and all other posters. How can people live in a country where government officals do not protect their citizens? This exporting of trained nurses as caregivers makes my blood boil.

What I have gathrered here, any one can open a nursing school with no standards and then the government makes deals for these graduates to work as maids.

With a million nurses in your country why don't you band together to make your country be accountable. If I was unemployed I would go to my congressional reps office and sit there until they heard my issue. The US had a revolution to make change, use your political process to evoke change!

The way I see it, many nurses have immigrated and done well in the US. Unfortuanately for the new nurses time has changed, US policy and Healthcare policy has deemed importing nurses as failure and will not have any opportunities for a prolonged period.

Time to ask your government to make things better for you.

What I would ask for is that admissions to nursing programs cease, that these students are getting scammmed.

Secondly, ask your government to fund more health care programs so that the citizens can get better care and the nurses can be employed.

Last, easy access for nurses to form there own companies, sounds like you have plentry of opportunity for Visiting nurses, Parish Nursing, Hospice Nursing, employee health, geriatric nursing, health education nursing to name a few.

US nurses can't make change in your country.

what is your thought on having a business permit (a permit which also authorize a non-EU citizen to work in spain and other Europe cities as caregivers) instead of having a regular work permit?

is this a better idea or what?

JPMBRN, are you already in Spain right now? did you start working there, yet?

reading this makes me more devastated.. :bluecry1:
