Please help. I need some more song ideas for our pinning ceremony. Would like fitting music both for when people are being seated and during our slide show. So far I have:

Dream Big

RESPECT

The River

Celebrate

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Oh, and you should start your slideshow w/ Welcome to the Jungle, by Guns N Roses.:lol2:

Hey everyone,

Starting to thinking about pinning ceremony coming up in December and wondering if anyone has some good music suggestions for a picture slide before the pinning ceremony. It would probably have to be 3-4 songs and be able to span generations as kids through older generations would attend. Any advice/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Theme song from Mary Tyler Moore Show: "You're gonna make it after all" LOL

We voted ahead of time for our slideshow, the processional, and the recessional. I know that The Beatles' "In My Life" was used, and a Celtic -inspired instrumental piece by Michael W. Smith was used for our processional. Unfortunately, some awful Rascal Flatts song was used for the recessional...several of us wanted Queen's "We Are the Champions" but were out-voted. Just be sure that everyone's musical tastes are represented and that everyone's happy.

...or as happy as possible! :uhoh3:

We are the Champions, Queen. I second this. This was played at my highschool graduation and it was great! Such great lyrics.

I personally do not want any pop music, rock and roll, country, whatever at my pinning--it seems, I don't know, undignified. Just my opinion, before any of you go flaming me.

I'd personally go with some sort of instrumental, timeless piece--any piece performed by Yo-Yo Ma; Bela Fleck also did some amazing reinterpretations of classical music; a lot of celtic music pieces are classy and pretty, but not overbearing. Seamus Eagan is a good place to start there.

ETA: I don't want my post to sound harsh; I think maybe because I am older (waaay older, or that's how I feel, anyhow), with kids starting to think about prom, the theme music sounds more like high school and prom than like an adult ceremony--to me. I guess I associate those type of songs with more juvenile activities because such songs were the themes for my junior high and high school proms, pep rallies, and graduations. The adult events in my life--wedding, college graduation come to mind--did NOT include songs by Queen or Abba. To each there own, however, since at my brother's wedding all the songs were popular country songs by popular artists (I'm not into country, so I didn't recognize them). I personally found that distasteful and, well, undignified; but they loved it, and it's their wedding; I'm sure they were gritting their teeth during the cello and piano pieces during our wedding.

I guess just keep your minds open and explore all your options. If everyone or most in your class want something like We are the Champions, who cares whether someone on line thinks it's undignified; it's your graduation/pinning ceremony.

i vote "Rocky's Theme" for processional and something uplifting like "Back in Black" for the recessional:devil: :jester:

QueenJean..I agree with you. I would probably drop my jaw to the floor if hard-core rock and roll was played when I have mine.

One of my favorite songs that I listen to every day is "Proud" by Heather Small. It's upbeat...I'll give you a sample of the lyrics:

I look into the window of my mind.

Fears I know I have left behind

I step outside the ordinary

I can feel my soul ascending

I'm on my way, can't stop me now, and you can do the same

Chorus:

What have you done today, to make you feel proud?

It's never too late to shine

What have you done today, to make you feel proud?

You can meet so many people

If you make that grasp for freedom

What have you done today, to make you feel proud?

If you don't have any guys graduating with you, there is a great duet by Annie Lennox and Aretha Franklin called "Sisters are doin' it for themselves"...it's a song about the celebration of female empowerment. This song would be an appropriate ending.

Before anyone decides that I'm crazy over the Guns N Roses thing, I was obviously kidding. :)

I second Taylor Hicks "Do I Make You Proud". Perfect nursing graduation song!
