Published May 14, 2014
Hi everyone - just wanted to start a new thread for everyone admitted to the LA Pierce College Nursing Program for Fall 2014! Current student input would be helpful as well! :-)

I was accepted to Pierce and COC as well, I did well on all my core classes A's and B's and I scored an 83% on the TEAS (I studied the manual for a week, it varies for everyone, you just have to know how you learn best) This was my first semester applying to the programs, I applied to 3 schools and got into 2 of them. :) Hope that helps

Congrats! which school are you planning to attend?
HOw come some people tend to wait 2years to get into a Nursing Program?
Do you know how many times you can take the TEAS Exam ?

i'm still not too sure which program I am going to choose.
idk why people tend to wait 2 years, I didn't think I'd get in I was very scared but since a lot of it is lottery I believe that the more schools you apply to, the more chances you have of getting into one.
Most schools only want the first score for TEAS test so it is important to do well on the first try.

Hi! Can't wait to start classes! Has anyone heard from Pierce about the packets? I emailed the other day and haven't gotten a response. Just making sure I haven't accidentally deleted anything.
Yay, me too!! I have not received any email yet regarding the info packet! I feel like it should be coming soon though :-)
That's awesome, congrats! I've heard great things about both programs.
Received the info packet! Anyone else currently working on getting it all done?

I've been working on all of that - lots of stuff to get in order!
Do we do all of the health check ups at Pierce or through our own PCP?
I think it can be wherever we want! I am using the Pierce Health Center because my PCP is very booked up! They scheduled me for 3 appointments, and they take care of everything. They basically told me everything they will do. And the physicals are free!

What are the different health examinations required by Pierce?
They require:
Physical (free at their health center)
Lab tests - CBC, UA, RPR
Immunizations
Titer to show immunizations still active
2 step TB
Dental Exam
What is the dental exam for?
It's just a normal checkup they require. I guess they want to just make sure everyone is healthy overall, although I was suprised they required a dental exam!

Congrats those who got in the program :)
I was in pierce nursing spring 2014 but failed the program.
Since I can not continue the program anymore, I'm selling my text books and the uniforms(it's small size).
All of them are clean and no highlightings except gerontology text book.
I would like to sell all of them as a bundle.
Let me know if you are interested.
THX :)
