  1. I don't want to leave my job. I want to branch out and do something more. Believe me, I am very grateful.
  2. I am currently Post Partum RN. I have been for about 6 months, and was previously in Med Surg as a new grad for 1 year. I LOVE my patients (moms and babies) but HATE bedside nursing. I LOVE working three days a week, but HATE counting down the hours until my shift is over. I feel like I am wasting away working two or three days in a row stuck inside hospital walls for 13 hours at a time, but at the same time I do like the flexibility of being able to have the schedule I choose. I have the job I always wanted but can't help but want to get out and do something else! Or maybe even go per diem and do something else on the side. But not sure what that something is. Maybe I am bored? I'm not sure. Positive advice please!! I want to enjoy work, thrive in it and look forward to it. I know it is still going to be "work", but I love working and contributing to society so I know it's not that I don't want to work, I just want it to fulfill me which it isn't doing now. Help!!
  3. It is so helpful to have a Facebook page. I recommend using your class year for the name; ours is LAPC Nursing c/o Spring 2016.
  4. Congratulations on getting into the program! I am currently in my fourth semester - it's a wonderful program. Feel free to ask any questions! I used this forum a lot when I was first admitted. Good luck :-)
  5. If you don't mind me asking, how did you get a job in the NICU as a new grad? I am currently a student and interested in NICU and OB in general. Thanks in advance :-)
  6. Yes, you attend both orientation days! Try to get all the health requirements done ASAP, they really mean it when they say it's due by the deadline. Plus it's just nice to have it done early! As for the uniforms... At the uniform store they give you a patch or they can send it out to be embroidered for you. I did that and it looks nice, just allow around two weeks to get it back. I made a Facebook before orientation and then just gave everyone the link once we all met. So feel free to take that initiative :-) I'm in Becky's class so I can also add to your group and give you whatever study guides I have as well. Good luck!
  7. No problem! :-)
  8. Well first semester has four classes, so you'll probably have two on Monday and two on Wednesday. Then clinicals are on Thursday and Friday at your assigned hospital!
  9. Yes, she teaches Gerontological Nursing and Pharmacology. The nursing classes are all on the pierce class schedule if you wanted to check out who teaches what!
  10. Hi everyone! I am just finishing up my second semester at Pierce. If you have any questions feel free to ask! And I totally agree that making a class Facebook page is the way to go. It's a way for your whole class to contact each other and post information, study guides, etc. I can also join your group and give you the study guides we use in our class! Best of luck to you all! :-)
  11. Oh good question.. I'm not positive about this but I think only one class in first semester. The regular RN program has four classes. But again I'm not positive because I don't know the students in that program! Sorry :-( If you emailed the secretary, she could probably tell you!
  12. Hi everyone, I am currently a first semester student at Pierce, so I just went through the whole process that you all are enduring right now. Let me know if you have any questions! It's a great program - hope you all get in :-)
  13. Yeah, I just finished all my health requirements and I'm thinking of turning it in this week or on orientation day. Does anyone know what the 2x2 photos are all about? Is it like a headshot type picture of ourselves? Can't wait to meet you all :-) Also, add the Facebook group if you haven't already! https://www.facebook.com/groups/LAPCnursingSpring2016/
  14. The Facebook group doesn't come up in the search bar for some reason, so here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/LAPCnursingSpring2016/
