PHSC 2015 Nursing Hopefuls

Published

Hey everyone!

I found one topic on this, but it wasn't very active, so I hope this one becomes a little more successful. My name is Jennifer, and I am applying for the January 2015 Nursing Program at PHSC. My home campus is Porter at Wiregrass Ranch. Are there any other 2015 hopefuls? I'd like to get to know you all! I am taking my TEAS next Tuesday and am so nervous. This will be my first time taking the TEAS. Have any of you taken it? How was it?

Any tips? I have finished all me pre-reqs and finished with a 3.6. Not too bad, wish I would have got higher! Hope I get in! Good luck to all you ladies!

Thanks!

Does anybody know how many applications were received in total for the transition ?

I finally took the TEAS today. I got a 69 :( & my pre req gpa is a 3.7. Also, not a Pasco resident. I followed the formula a few pages back for the composite score, and if I did it right, that's only a 76. Much lower than everyone else's. Feeling worried about my chances, but I went ahead and applied to Porter, because I won't know unless I try. Who else is for Porter campus? I am done with all my co reqs as well, so if I get in I would only have to take the nursing courses.

we both have the same composite score. Glad to see someone else who also finished all their co reqs. 😊

I have also finished all my co-reqs, I just have nursing courses left!

Too bad they don't take into account how many Co reps you have finished.. to me it would make more sense to let someone in that has those classes finished vs someone who has to complete them all within the same time frame as taking the nursing courses :-?

Mm14 I'm thinking because today is cut off that won't know the total number until about Wednesday or so.. sure someone wil call and let us know ;-)

Sat down with an advisor today and she confirmed that they do look at overall GPA prior to looking at pre-req GPA. I asked why it does not state this on the course description and admission requirements and she said that it was because they "only looked at it to see if an applicant was doing well all around, not just on the pre-req's, beforehand to gauge how they might do in the program". However, that being said, she continued with, "as long as all the minimum requirements are met, it's not really an issue though". So I have decided to not stress over it. I've done what I could and now it's up to them to decide. No matter what, I'm proud of myself for getting this far, and hope everyone else is proud of themselves as well. It's awesome to be working towards this goal!! Again, best of luck to everyone!!

Hpfl2015, I admire your positive attitude and thank you for the information! Best of luck to you as well!!

Hpfl2015.... Thank you for the positivity ! I hope everyone gets in 😊

The co-reqs are considered part of the program so that it qualifies as full-time. If you do not need to take them, then you will not be considered "full-time" credit wise and it may effect the amount of financial aid that you get.

How long before you receive the letter that they received your app?
