PHSC 2015 Nursing Hopefuls

Published

Hey everyone!

I found one topic on this, but it wasn't very active, so I hope this one becomes a little more successful. My name is Jennifer, and I am applying for the January 2015 Nursing Program at PHSC. My home campus is Porter at Wiregrass Ranch. Are there any other 2015 hopefuls? I'd like to get to know you all! I am taking my TEAS next Tuesday and am so nervous. This will be my first time taking the TEAS. Have any of you taken it? How was it?

Any tips? I have finished all me pre-reqs and finished with a 3.6. Not too bad, wish I would have got higher! Hope I get in! Good luck to all you ladies!

Thanks!

So I held off on going to west campus today since I had to work and didn't think calling out over this was the best idea. One of my coworkers at east campus literally dragged me down to the main office when I told her what was going on and after sitting there for TWO hours I was told that I would receive a letter in the mail shortly.

Apparently, west campus wont even tell an academic adviser at east campus if I'm accepted or not.

At this point, I'm probably just going to finish my AA and get my bachelors in health sciences like I originally wanted. I'd be done in two years and have a higher degree than I would if I stuck around in the nursing program anyway.

The last of all the letters should be out by Wednesday, by the way, that's according to a nursing instructor I just finished speaking to. So everyone SHOULD know by then.

When you say letter Corey do you mean denial letter? Are you going to ask for an explanation? I would want to know. Are you going to give up on the nursing program completely and finish health sciences or try and apply in the future?

Side note: I got accepted to East :)

I hope you get your acceptance letter, Corey.

I'm curious - for those of you that did get their acceptance letters - did they email you your packet yet?

It just seems so crazy that they are doing everything so late....there's a lot to get done in that packet.

Received my no offer letter today :/ I was expecting it though.

ScaletJones,

I received my packet a few days after I got my acceptance letter and it was also via email. There is A LOT to do and we've only has about a week and a half to get it all done :/

Scarlet I received it through email.

Corey, in crossing my fingers for you

Arieco im sorry :( Don't give up!

I have no idea what kind of letter they're sending. Due to the fact the deadline to accept a seat was today and orientation is next Monday, I'm going out on a limb and saying it'll be a denial. Honestly, though, all of this time has given me time to think and I don't think nursing is right for me since I've had arthritis for 7 years and as much as I love helping people, physically, I don't think I could do it.

If it is a denial letter, I won't be reapplying, that is completely unjust and unfair and there is no way I want to be associated with the program if someone with my scores wasn't allowed in. Plus, in two years I'd like to say I have a bachelors, not an associates that took me five years.

Good, at least you got the packets right away. Did they give you assigned dates/times to bring everything completed to the nursing office? That's what they did last fall - we had to show up on a designated date with all of our packet info complete in order to get a ticket into orientation.

I feel bad for you guys....I remember thinking there was a ton of stuff to get done and I had over a month to get it all done.

Make sure your packet is complete before you go to turn it in or they will just make you come right back.

Did they include a booklist in the packet? If so, would someone mind posting it....I want to see if they changed anything.

Corey, i hope you get in and can talk to Connie soon!

I gave up i only have a 76% but really want to do something with my life. I already have an AA and just want to pursue something so my kids will be proud of me. I will retake the Teas again and apply for spring. But in the meantime maybe search another degree.

Best of luck to everyone

It's all good. I'm gonna work on bringing my teas up and apply for spring.

Not everything is due next Monday. There is time.

I would post the book list, however, I could lose my spot if any information from the packet is shared via social media :/ Sorry!
