PHSC 2015 Nursing Hopefuls

Published

Hey everyone!

I found one topic on this, but it wasn't very active, so I hope this one becomes a little more successful. My name is Jennifer, and I am applying for the January 2015 Nursing Program at PHSC. My home campus is Porter at Wiregrass Ranch. Are there any other 2015 hopefuls? I'd like to get to know you all! I am taking my TEAS next Tuesday and am so nervous. This will be my first time taking the TEAS. Have any of you taken it? How was it?

Any tips? I have finished all me pre-reqs and finished with a 3.6. Not too bad, wish I would have got higher! Hope I get in! Good luck to all you ladies!

Thanks!

I agree with Scarlet, Corey definitely go in first thing Monday and see if they maybe typed your email wrong. Keep us updated we are all rooting for you!!!

I purchased my scrub pants from a scrub shop in Zephyrhills

The lab facilitators on campus also have scrubs available for free that have been turned in by former students.

Rasmussen isn't on our approved school list at Florida Hospital Tampa (Wesley Chapel has different standards). The Clinical Education Department keeps a list on our website of approved schools. I'll be more than happy to provide that list to anyone who would like it. BE CAREFUL which school you choose to attend.

IamMrStandifer... I actually know a few people who graduated from Rasmussen and work at Fl Hosp Tampa and Wesley Chapel, and I also know one Nurse who just graduated in January and began working at Tampa General Hosp in February, and she graduated from Rasmussen

I just received a letter in the mail for porter/west/east saying I was not accepted. I had a composite score of 82%. I'm not surprised, but at least I have my answer now.

I'm sorry! It's strange that your scores are so similar to others, yet you were the one that didn't get in!

I received my letter too, my composite score was 81. Ugh....I guess I need to study for the TEAS again.

I'm sorry Lapin. It's rather odd that you didn't get in being that my composite was lower. Don't give up! Your composite score is good and you will get in, in spring if you plan to apply. I wish you good luck in everything :)

I'm sorry ladies!! At least now you know and you can plan accordingly.

For my own curiosity....

Has anyone that's received a paper letter been accepted? Connie told me to expect a letter in the mail soon, and hearing about all these denial letters is really freaking me out.

For everyone that didn't get in, definitely apply for spring, I heard its a little less competitive and so far everyone that's posted here has had awesome composite scores.

Does anyone know how the LPN program works? I was accepted and had some questions. The program is 45 credits long. Does that mean its three semesters long? Fall/spring/summer? Is it possible to apply to the transition program if im in the last semester of LPN? It looks like the difference between lpn to rn and rn generic is one semester, is that true?

From what I was reading, it is three semesters and in order to apply to the transition program you have to have a copy of your LPN license, so I imagine there would have to be a one semester wait between the two programs. Hopefully someone that has a little more experience with this will jump on and give you more information.

I was accepted and have never received a letter in the mail. The only communication I have gotten has been via email.
