I just received an email from Maria Gallo to confirm an interview for next Monday...

I am so thrilled and so nervous at the same time... Does anyone have any insight as to the line of questioning to expect???

Liz0105,

Congratulations!!!!!! That's great news. There are postings on this thread regarding PBISON interviews. Good luck!

I spoke with Ms. Gallo today. I was surprised she knew who I was. Apparently, I need to fax over information regarding a test I took to exit high school early. The test was scored differently from the GED. I'm feeling hopeful, it seems as if I'm being considered for an interview. We'll see :uhoh3:

HELLO, I took the exam on the 3/30 at 430pm to 830 pm too i got my score too but can you please help me interpret the result?

Hi HOH-

I pulled out my score report and my NLN study guide for a few pointers - hope this helps!

What matters:

At the top of the report, right below your name and SSN - there is a composite score. It can range anywhere from 0-200. Average score is 100 with a normal deviation of 20pts.

All the way to the right, are the composite percentiles. This number indicates where you rank among the other test takers. DI stands for diploma program applicants, AD stands for ADN program applicants, etc...

For example, a 80 percentile means that you performed equally or better than 80% of your fellow test-takers. PBISON admissions standards are that you should score at least a 55 percentile.

Hope this helps! If you have the NLN study guide, there is a section that helps explain the score report in further detail. :)

hey has anyone around here in the 80s range has been acceptance?

i got an 82 on AD when i called them up they told me that's the score they look at

how long does it usually take for you to find out whether you've been accepted or not?

coz the last time i called they tol me that there are still students who's takin the test on the 22nd so i guess i'm gonna be hearin from them after that test is over

Hi all-

I just finished my interview at PBISON. Met with Asst. Dean Stern for about an hour. She was so nice, and it didn't feel like a strict interview at all - it was mostly a discussion of my background, and an overview of the program, financial aid, and other steps that I can take over the summer to further prepare myself for the upcoming semester.

Regarding their admissions process, she told me that they have admitted 21 to date, and are looking at an incoming class of nearly 120...

I hope this helps everyone out there!

Now, just have to wait for the Admissions Committee to make a formal decision....

That is great news Liz:up:. Did she say how they go about choosing the applicants, is it solely on the NLN exam?

TripleA-

She said it was combination of NLN scores, essays, and previous academic performance. She did mention that the NLN gives them an idea of how strong you are in certain subject areas, but they decide on students based on the entire application package. I think they weigh the essay pretty heavily - based on our conversation, they want to ensure that potential students truly possess a caring nature.

Congratulations Liz! Well done, you must be reallly pleased.

I just received my NLN scores from the test on 04/06, and I thought I had done well (143 and 98% percentile) but it seems to be that lots of people do even better so a bit nervous now...I get myself into a state reading the threads, although they are helpful lol!

Can I just ask what the time lapse was between receiving your NLN scores and being called in for an interview?

Thanks

Lily

Hi Lily-

Great job on the exam!!!

I got my scores on a Thursday, and emailed PBISON the following Monday to confirm that they had received the scores as well. I received a response the same day - saying that they hadn't received them from the NLN yet, and they asked me to fax over my score report, which I did that afternoon.

Two days later, I received an email to set up an interview... :specs:

I would recommend that you follow up with admissions to ensure that they received your scores... They are very helpful!

Good luck to you!!

Hi Liz,

I have actually already done that, as I read your earlier thread, and Ms Gallo was very helpful. She confirmed they had received everything and it would be sent to the admissions committee, so just got to wait now, and hope for the best. Have you received your official offer letter yet!?

Thanks for all the tips,

Lily
