Phillips Beth Israel Applicants

Published

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone has applied to the Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing in NYC for the coming year? I am looking to get into their part-time evening program that would begin in Spring 2011. I'm taking the NLN this Wed and really nervous about it, really just the verbal part....

Hey...oooo I'm in the 2 year ATOP program. I have my booklist for only Nursing 100, Nursing 101 and Sociology even though I'm not taking Soc. I could definitely email you the Health Assessment and my book list. What is your email address?

i already sent it to her :)

By any chance did they send anything about the drug testing and the background check? Thanks.

Thank you everyone for helping me out with all the emails. Look forward to meeting you this year!!

Reptileman-im in the ATOP program too!

Im in the ATOP program too. Please can anyone email me the book list when you can. Also, I was wondering about the uniforms. This may be a silly question but I was wondering do we wear them for clinicals or to class daily?

You only wear the scrubs for clinicals and you only wear the lab coat for nursing lab. You can wear street clothes in all your other classes. However, if you are running late to class from clinical (if you have a class after clinical), you are free to wear your scrubs into class so you don't become late from changing.

Does anyone know what orientation is all about? Is it all day both days or what?

Also -- any information on the CPR classes? When? Where? Or do we just set it up for ourselves?

Sarah

Orientation is two days long; they introduce the professors, talk about the school, school policies, safety issues, fire issues, peer-advisers, they answer any questions you might have, and this is also the time where they assign you lockers and mailboxes.

I don't know about the CPR though, because I wasn't required to do training last year since I was in the three year program (no patient contact, plus the license would have been void by the time I reached level II).

does anyone know when registrations gonna begin???

-thanks!

Regarding the CPR, I just signed up with the Red Cross and took the all day class. At the end of the day we took a very easy exam, and we were given an official card of certification. I will say, that for the exam, it is fairly easy, but pay attention to number of repitions and the order in which you do things.

I wish we would get our schedules soon, as well as where we will be doing our individual clinicals.

Jules,

Most Hospitals and schools of nursing want american heart CPR

Actually most don't mind that it's from the Red Cross but that one is usually more expensive and then it only lasts a year.
