Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone has applied to the Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing in NYC for the coming year? I am looking to get into their part-time evening program that would begin in Spring 2011. I'm taking the NLN this Wed and really nervous about it, really just the verbal part....
No, nothing yet Kuklara. You've been busy though. Some girl wasn't too happy with the comment you made about St. Paul's. I found her comment hilarious! Don't understand why people get so angry about other people's opinions. I thought about writing something but yesterday was Easter and God don't like ugly so I kept my opinion to myself.
I hope I hear something soon. I have to file for financial aid by April 23rd and I don't wanna go through the hastle of undoing all that paperwork.
What about you Stinson? Have you heard anything yet?
How about Aleatha, vintagedoll and gm, hear anything yet?
I'm still waiting nothing yet.
I could care less who gets mad at my comments....I don't say anything bad you know me, just my opinion and my opinion is ST. PAULS STINKS LOL She probably won't that comment either lol
I found out alot of bad things about that school. They called me this week to take their HESI exam but I told them I decided not to go there. I'd rather not get in anywhere this semester than go there - too many people have too many complaints...tuition way too high...when I went there they were extremely unprofessional...and they're aren't NLN accredited which is not a big deal to some people but to me it is. If I am going to spend thousands of dollars on a school I want to make sure it is someplace where I feel comfortable going to.
I should be getting a letter hopefully this week from NCC...so we'll see what happens
I kinda feel the same way too Stinson, but you know what....I've applied to 3 other schools and they are all the same way so its not just Beth Israel. I call them and they all say the same thing: You will receive a notice in a few days in the mail...its a waiting game wherever you go....
I seriously hope we get to meet Kuklara...you are a trip!
And you are right about the waiting. It's the same for everywhere. It's only the beginning of April. Applications should've been in by the 1st and Starlette did say they were really going to get to work now. I'm hopeful that all of us will get in. I've been saying my prayers EVERY night. It's the only thing I CAN do at this point.
Jay....Didn't you also apply to Queensborough? Did you hear anything yet?
I am waiting for a response from Nassau Community - the deadline was over Friday and I was told that on Friday they would be reviewing apps and sending out letters the first/second week of this month so I am waiting very impatiently
I am on the waitinglist still for Farmingdale and was told I would know at the end of the month, and for Beth Israel looks like we have another month before we know anything...this SUCKS lol

Actually it is quite common for some nursing programs to only graduate a handful of students, but all pass the boards exam on the first attempt, verus many more and have a lower passing rate.
Google around on the matter in the "news" section, and you will find annoucements from programs touting their "100% pass rate".
Personally I'd rather get into a program with a high or total pass rate, and do everything within my power to stay in and graduate, than be accepted into a program with low passing scores. Could not believe a school in my hometown (Wagner College) has a passing rate of only about 70%, and this is a four year private college. That means a quarter of their graduate class of nurses paid a whole lot of money and failed the NCLEX out of the box.
