Phillips Beth Israel Applicants

Published

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone has applied to the Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing in NYC for the coming year? I am looking to get into their part-time evening program that would begin in Spring 2011. I'm taking the NLN this Wed and really nervous about it, really just the verbal part....

Vintagedoll,

There were some earth science questions on my test but not many, maybe 2. There was ALOT of physics so definitely do as Kuklara and Starlette say. Good luck!

if youre taking it at beth israel it's paper and pen. there are some locations that are computer. lol there are a lot of questions in the practice book so i dont remember much haha - if you practice all the practice tests over and over you'll do fine. =) and i only studied from the red book

Hi everyone. Hope all of you are well. Just signed on to vent a little. I found out today that I CAN'T take micro this summer because my college has pulled it for the summer semester! I called BI to let them know that I am no longer eligible to apply to the ATOP program. I told MG and she said not to worry and that IF I get an interview I should let them know then. Of course my application was still being reviewed. I'm so frustrated I could scream!

:hdvwl:

Hey Jayzelena - Sorry to hear that =(

Is there any way you could take it at another school as a non-metriculated student? I'm not sure how that stuff works though

How can they still be reviewing you app? I thought they told you that weeks ago..then when you called back didn't they tell you that letters were being sent out in May?

Who knows.....we just gotta wait until May

I should be getting a letter any day now from Nassau Community....God this waiting is getting almost rediculous now

I hear your pain. I too took the NLN's in January and was told by the Dean that I did really well and I am definitely a candidate for the program. I called MG this week and asked her what's going on with my application since I had not heard from them. She told me the same thing..."they are still reviewing my application. I should hear from them in May. I think that they tell this to any one who calls now. From the tone of her voice I don't give it much hope. ( I really hope I'm wrong). I really wish they would just let everyone know where they are holding so we can make plans. It's really frustrating to have to wait for such a long time.

hey jay! i'm sorry to hear that =/ that's a bummer! are you sure you can't take it at another college?

newyorkstar - how did you do on the NLN? and what program are you applying for? the woman i interviewed with said the admissions committee isnt meeting until may 10 that is the next meeting date...so it really is just a waiting game guys. i think that if you havent heard anything yet it's not a bad thing you know?

I don't mean to sound like a crab but I am getting so irritated with this waiting game lol I think I am officially in a bad mood over this!

I agree....they are telling everyone the same thing...it would be easier for them to just tell us if we're accepted or not so we stop buggin them and know what we need to do for September...I dont know why all nursing programs are like this....like its top secret information

I got a 130 and 92%. I'm applying for the day program. Have did you do? No, I didn't apply to other schools...pretty stupid on my part but I really liked the the things I heard about BI and I went to other open houses and was really not impressed with them. The bachelor programs are less of a waiting list but you would need to take more pre-requistes. If all else fails maybe I will go that route!

Hi Gals...

I've been following this thread very closely, and felt that it's time that I contribute! I guess we're all in the same boat. I also applied to BI for Fall, and took the computer NLN and scored 132, and 92%. My prereqs for nursing include chem, bio1, soc, dev.psych, general psych, eng 101, 102, and few others averaging a 3.53. BUT, I started college in 2001, and received great grades, but the 3rd year of college came a lot of issues and I wound up missing a lot of classes getting WUs that turned into Fs. That was 2005. In that time, I moved out of my parent's home, found a bf, an apt got engaged and married and wanted to pursue nursing but it was never the right time. Fast forward to last Sept. I started school again and got a 3.7 gpa.

So.... I also spoke to MG yesterday to make sure they received everything, and she said that the transcripts with all the WUs don't look good, but i explained to her that i talk about that in my essay. She asked me to fax her my NLN scores ASAP and I did. Spoke to her today and they received it, so now it's going to B.S. and MG didn't mention anything about the dates when the committees get together again, or anything like that. She just told be very nicely I have to 'just wait and see'. UGHHHHH the suspense is literally going to kill me. Seriously. I feel like I'm developing an ulcer, I'm sorry we all have this most awful feeling- like impending doom. Congrats to the one that scored an interview already!

It has officaially put me in a bad mood too Kuklara. I probably could take micro at another college but don't wanna take the chance of getting an awful professor and having to learn ALL that material in such a short amount of time. It's not too bad because I now have the summer free to spend it with my kids and I have to the schedule to do the full time program since I don't work. I'm so stressed over this that I've been looking into LPN schools and CNA programs, just to get my foot in the door. I kinda don't have the time to get my BSN and not work. Me and my kids aren't getting any younger.

OMG! thank heavens I found this thread. I too am looking into Beth Israel but haven't been able to get a hold of anyone over there. I'm a really looking into getting in this school...however I do need to take gen bio and gen chem according to their recording. has anyone gotten in yet? @kuklara511 I saw that u live live in Bellerose...I use to live over their by 87th rd and little neck. I've recently moved though. This site is a wealth of info...so please let me know anyone who has been accepted into that school.

Jay - Then take the summer off and enjoy yourself with your kids.

I don't have Micro either and my school is all booked up for it for the summer so I am just going to take it next summer instead. Actually this summer I am going to take History, Sociology, and an elective. In the future when I end up going to a Bachelors I'll need them any how so I figured I'd take them now since I'm not working. If I had kids and a hubby I might just hang out with them too but since I dont I might as well take them. If ANY of the teachers such I am withdrawing immediately lol maybe go to Greece to see my grandfather, not sure yet.

I am home waiting for the mailman lol ... actually I feel alittle under the weather too which is why I'm home...but I'm PRAYING I get the NCC letter today!
