PHCC Fall 2011 RN/LPN ROLL CALL!!!!!!

Published

Hello everyone!! I would like to start a thread for the 2011 Fall semester RN & LPN applicants! I applied to both and with the deadline to turn in the application tomorrow, I am already super anxious. I figured this would be a great way to check in with each other and hopefully meet our fellow classmates!!!!!!!!!!

:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

I finished my first semester in the RN program at NPR. I got an A, had a ton of fun but started studying for exams 7-10 says before the exam date. I used to just cram the night before! It's not that bad. It is front loaded in the beginning and seems overwhelming, but they Def make up for it as the semester rolls on. Ask around for any NCLEX books you can borrow. That's how I study. I have 7 different books 2 friends let me borrow and they have been awesome.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Chris,

So you didn't buy/study the books on the PHCC Nursing list? You just borrowed NCLEX books?

Bart-

ok thanks! I dont think I want to do the sponsorship either but it would be nice to have a job upon graduation.

Sorry, yes, I got all the required books for class. But a lot of my studying came from supplemental resources, SUCH AS NCLEX study guides and practice tests I found online.

Also, I have a scholarship thru my employer, FHZ. If you have any questions about that, please let me know :-)

Hey everyone, i just made a group on Facebook for all of us RN students. Heres the link to the page; http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fall-2011-PHCC-RN-Students/244942758866699?skip_nax_wizard=true

like it, and add me too if you want. =]

How did you swing a scholarship there Chris?

Its available to employees going for their RN. It's $1750/ semester and you are contracted to work for the hospital for 6 months for every semester of scholarship money taken. And if you break your contract you pay it back at 150%! :-\ But I wanted to be assured a job when I graduated. Plus, I have worked there for almost 2 years. And aside from the recent budget "issues" they seem to be having, I REALLY like working there, especially the people. :-)

Yes I heard they are good to work for from others as well. Are they building the hospital in Wesley Chapel? I think it would be great to work close to home.

Bartend- Adventist Health is building Wesley Chapel Medical Center. Adventist and UCH Tampa and UCH Carrollwood just merged and will be renamed in September to Florida Hospital Tampa and Florida Hospital Carrollwood. The Wesley Chapel location already has 2 websites and is accepting resumes. Hiring will be done through UCH Tampa and they've already hired some execs.

Just found yesterday that I will be in the Brooksville LPN-RN transition class and not NPR. I was expecting NPR since it is so much closer to my house but I will go wherever I need to!! Are clinicals for North done at Brooksville Regional or Oakhill? Or both?

I have never even been out to the North Campus..anyone want to share their experience with the school/hospital?

Thanks!!!:)

I thought we found out at orientation... How did u find out??

When I was dropping off paperwork I asked if we would be told at orientation and the lady told me that we would be. Then she just picked up some papers and looked through to my name and told me where I was set to go.

It sounds like anyone living in Tampa, Lutz, etc. is going to the North Campus.
