PHCC Fall 2011 RN/LPN ROLL CALL!!!!!!

Published

Hello everyone!! I would like to start a thread for the 2011 Fall semester RN & LPN applicants! I applied to both and with the deadline to turn in the application tomorrow, I am already super anxious. I figured this would be a great way to check in with each other and hopefully meet our fellow classmates!!!!!!!!!!

:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

Does anyone know when phcc planners come out??

Does anyone know when phcc planners come out??

Jessika, I work in Student Activities EC, I do not know the EXACT date of the planner coming out, but I do have a draft copy...is there something I can look up for you??

Also...to my fellow LPN classmates...how excited is everyone for orientation next Wed??? I am supppppper excited! I did my physical today and vaccines and I am all done with everything! Haven't bought any supplies yet...has anyone gotten their stethoscope? I would like to buy a nice one and hear the Littman Cardiology iii is a very good one? I figure it will stay with me a while so worth the investment?

Hope everyone is doing well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No I just want one for all my appointments. I like that the Littmann is one tube instead of two. Plus, they come in cool colors. I'm scoping out shoes. U better believe if I hafta wear the god awful uniform that I'm gonna at least be wearing some Nike shox or something with a lip style lol

Seriously! That uniform is hideous! Why not just white scrubs...ehhhh And your right Jessika...gonna have to get some cute shoes...hopefully that will divert people's attention lol

Hi, PHCC nursing students!

I am starting the LPN program at the West campus in August.

I had a question for anyone who has gone through the LPN program. I want to apply for the bridge RN program for next August. In order to be accepted, I need to take Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2, as well as Microbiology prior to May. I have taken all other general courses and prerequisites.

I'm trying to get permission to do so, but I was thinking about taking Anatomy and Physiology 1 in the fall while taking the LPN classes. I am not working and do not have any children. In your experience, is this too much? My issue is PHCC only has fall admission for the bridge program so if I don't take these classes prior to May, then I have to wait a year.

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks for your opinions on this!

Good questions!!! I am starting the LPN program at West Campus in August too! I wanted to add to your list of questions by asking:

1.) Is it even possible to apply to the bridge program in the fall of next year because the program doesn't end until July and the application deadline is May right? Don't you have to be a licensed LPN to apply? It would really suck if we had to wait a whole other year:::( Has anyone out there bridged???

I went to an advisor today and she said PHCC allows PHCC LPN students to apply in May even though we haven't finished the program because they only open this up once a year. She said I have to have all prerequisites complete and that's my dilemma. First semester of the LPN program is 18.5 credits, so taking anything else would be over the max and I have to get approval from the Vice President. I contacted him today. I just don't want to overwhelm myself and ruin my GPA for acceptance.

Thanks for your reply. I hope to see you at orientation!

her's what I can tell you from my experience: from everyone i have talked to, maybe ONE person has been able to bridge over immediately. Not likely it will happen. anatomy 1 and 2 are not too tough of classes but microbiology will deff overwhelm you. it's all about VERY detailed and miniscule facts. hope i helped!:twocents:

just curious, anyone know, do we have to have a particular brand/type of BP cuff and stethoscope for classes?? i dont want to have to buy a new set if i dont have to...

Is there anyone that is in or was in the RN program at PHCC and wants to get rid of their textbooks?
