I want to meet some of you! I'm just getting ready to take my last 3 finals, have been studying for the TEAS for months now, and will be able to apply for next fall's nursing program (YAYAY!) I'd love to hear from some potential future classmates, how you are doing/ did with pre-reqs/ TEAS, and share the excitement upon acceptances!

You'll do great! :) Confidence is key! When do you plan on taking your test, IamMrsStandifer?

Do you still have the nutrition book? I will be taking that class this summer.

I'm still debating I'm at the beginning of this journey. I'm taking the computer class and nutrition this summer and A&P in the Fall. I previously took psychology so I'll be do with the prereqs this fall. So I think I'll take it in December and one more time before they start accepting applications in April of next year.

I worked for a cardiologists for 3 years before working with this GI and I'm enjoying the specialty change. I feel like im gaining knowledge that will help towards nursing school by working in offices. Yeah, I've taken micro and the lab. Lots of bacterias to memorize, sources, and how they stain. The lab was fun. Growing colonies in peetree dishes and lab reports.

alainasorenson: Are you going to retake the TEAS before applying. I definitely recommend getting the ATI TEAS V study guide if you havent already. And when I applied they did most of it for me. I just brought my ID and the application sheet. The guy at Porter Campus said there was an updated checklist to print with the new PHSC logo.. Ihad the wrong one, so he printed that for me and made the enlarged photo of my ID, and copy of application receipt there.

I do still have my nutrition book, but I want to say that it's outdated? I'll have to pull it out and see what edition I've got--I think I remember seeing somewhere that they updated it.

I am really looking forward to Micro...after getting my ADN I'm planning to get my bachelor's in biology :)

One month of waiting down, one and a half+ more to go! :) Hope you're all having a great week. Best of luck on your finals!

My pre-reqs are done, my pre-reqs are done!!! I could jump for joy right now...ended up with a 4.0

I just bought the ATI study guide today so I can practice a bit , then plan on taking the TEAS is 2 weeks. What a relief.

I'm not too happy about waiting until last minute but it is what it is.

I'm so excited!!!! When do acceptance/denial letter usually get mailed out? July?

Regarding the nutrition book - they don't really update it per say - they just change the picture on the front of the book and maybe a diagram or two. It's a gimmick to get students to pay more money in my opinion. I bought a loose leaf on craigslist and it was the "old" edition so I called the teacher and told her which one I had and she said it would be fine and it was.

the school wanted 160.00 for a loose leaf with access code that the class has no use for. Just my 2 cents....

4.0, woohoo!!! Congrats, girl! :) I'm just getting ready to take my last final for this semester...Algebra. Of all of my classes this semester, Algebra has been the easiest--I have a 99% right now, so I'm hoping that even if I choke on the final, things will even out (although I really hope to do well!)

In that case in regard to the nutrition book, IamMrsStandifer, you can definitely have mine! I can't remember what I paid for it, but I wouldn't want much for it at all...I'll have to dig it out of the closet! ;-P Also, if you haven't taken Algebra yet, I have the "guided notebook" if you'd be interested in that. I literally never even used it; by some miracle my brain is now able to comprehend Algebra whereas in high school it was like a foreign language to me!

Acceptance/rejection letters go out late June! I'm taking my last general classes over the summer to keep me busy in the meantime! ;-P

Have a great week, everyone, and good luck on your finals!!!

Hi All! My name is Lisa, I am also applying to the Fall 2014 Nursing Generic Program and I have a few questions for everyone. My pre-req GPA is 3.77 and I received a 73 on the TEAS test (first try without even opening book). I plan to take the TEAS test again in 2 weeks (after studying my butt off the past few weeks) with hopes to score in the high 70s or low 80s. Additionally, I am a resident of Pasco county. I'm hoping all of this will help me to secure a spot in the program. As for my questions:

1) Does anyone know if PHSC penalizes students if they withdrew from one of the pre-reqs and then retook it?

2) I am already a student at PHSC and when speaking with an advisor last week, they informed me I do not need to provide official high school or college transcripts as they already have them in their possession. That being said, what does everyone's application packet look like? I'm so worried I'm going to forget something/misread the checklist and as a result, not be considered for acceptance into the program.

Good luck to everyone!!

Hi I am not sure about the pre req question. All I know is that I asked adviser if I could retake a pre req class to get a better gpa and she said no. For the transcript s if your already a student then you won't need to put them with application.

lesposito,

Hi Lisa, just wanted to say that last year summer I actually had a friend who was re-taking AA&P I with me at the north campus to improve her grade. I also know through my friends that depending on which campus and advisor, they get different answers, which I cannot understand!

Even though you got a very good score on your teas without studying, taking it again is a very good idea since for the fall semester there will be about 36 seats available whereas for spring it's always 48. Besides usually there are more applications for fall than for spring, making it a little more difficult.

Good luck to you!

Really? That's crazy. I wanted to restate a class and they said I wasn't able to. I quess I will be going to speak with a different advisor soon. :)
