PHCC Fall 2014 hopefuls!

U.S.A. Florida

I want to meet some of you! I'm just getting ready to take my last 3 finals, have been studying for the TEAS for months now, and will be able to apply for next fall's nursing program (YAYAY!) I'd love to hear from some potential future classmates, how you are doing/ did with pre-reqs/ TEAS, and share the excitement upon acceptances!

Also, about the score-the average is upper 60s for those who are accepted. Factoring in your GPA and your residence preference points, I don't anticipate you should have any issues with a 73% but I can understanding wanting to retake just to be sure!

Hey Everyone!

Figured I would jump on here since I applied to the Fall '14 Semester at PHSC. I turned my app in at the Porter Campus, but was told if you get accepted you get the location they give you.

Good luck, Gabby! :)

The wait is killing me. I wish the application period was already closed. No offense to the ones who haven't applied yet, but since I applied as soon as it opened I feel like I have to wait waayyy longer now. How many are interested in the Porter campus?

I'm hoping for Porter! I soooo agree with you! I did receive a letter a couple of weeks ago, though, which confirmed that they received my app and it was submitted correctly and therefore being included for "further consideration"!!! So that's at least something! I've got TONS of homework even with being toward the very end of this semester and am planning on taking 3 classes over the summer semester just to keep myself occupied so I don't worry as much! If you live in the WC area, we should definitely meet up for coffee or lunch sometime to try to distract ourselves! Lol It'd be great to already know someone by the time fall rolls around!

I currently work full-time now in Wesley Chapel, so Porter would be convenient especially if I will be switching to part time like I plan to if accepted. I already have all my supporting courses done, so I'll only have nursing courses/clinicals to focus on. I received a letter as well stating it was submitted correctly. That was a weight lifted, so now it's just the wait for who gets in! I'm hoping the time goes by quickly. I'm debating whether to apply for the LPN too as a rebound if I'm not accepted, however I am mostly confident I will be accepted. It's just with Fall I know there will be more applicants and every semester it changes.

That's a really good plan! I've taken all coreqs but will still have the A and P and Micro to do and I'm planning to finish up any others I can get out of the way next summer. I also work full time...we've got a lot in common! Where do you work?

I work for a Gastroenterologist in the office. I'm not sure if I will be able to stay full-time when classes start and if I'm accepted, but I plan to see how it goes. Some say it's best not to work at all but I wont have those supporting classes to take, so I think I'll have time to at least work part-time. A&P isn't terrible at all, I find that subject interesting. That computer class though seems easy, but the tests I had to take had 3 chapters of subject matter. Some people who took that said they didn't even had tests and their grades were mainly based off classwork.

I currently work for a gastroenterology facility along with a few PM and R, neuro, and ophthalmology facilities doing their EMRs! I have to admit that GI is definitely one of my favorite specialties! I also find A and P interesting; I think that it is all very logic (a lot like what I think about Algebra!) and you are either wired to get it or you will have a rotten time trying to learn how! I know I will at least need to remain working part-time during nursing school, but I am wondering if I can balance full time. I've been able to manage with full-time classes this semester along with work, but I feel like nursing school may be a whole separate ball game! Have you already taken microbiology and the lab?

Hello,

I will be applying for the Fall 2014 session also. I have a 4.0 gpa in the pre-reqs and I am terrified of not getting a decent score on the TEAS test. I have taken it once (without studying for it) at the end of last year and was at the "basic" preparedness level :( This will be my first application into the program.

For those of you whom have already put in your applications, does the check list go on top or the generic application sheet go on top; or does it even matter?

I'm so glad you posted-it's great to meet another hopeful! :) I put my checklist on top and then placed the documents in the order that they were listed on the checklist; however, I really don't think it matters.

Try not to psych yourself out with the TEAS--it is a challenging test, but completely do-able! Maybe even do some searching around here for a good list of concepts to study; I know that helped me a lot! Best of luck to you, Alaina!

I'm using the ATI study guide and another study guide as well. I'm also using a TEAS test study app. I have a lot of resources lol I'm determined to do well!
