I want to meet some of you! I'm just getting ready to take my last 3 finals, have been studying for the TEAS for months now, and will be able to apply for next fall's nursing program (YAYAY!) I'd love to hear from some potential future classmates, how you are doing/ did with pre-reqs/ TEAS, and share the excitement upon acceptances!
Here is some info for those interested in BSN.
You know that PHSC now offer BSN, I am not sure what are the requirements & if you can sign up for the 4-year straight BSN.
But for those who want to get the RN first, which would be a smart move since you can work as an RN after 2 years and with a full time job you still can easily get your BSN degree. It takes about 2 years and RN to BSN is 100% online! The price is also very reasonable here.
I had left a comment earlier this year that you needed to work on your AA at the same time to be able to continue after RN to BSN, and that was what the advisor had told me, but this was last year and they were not so sure.
Now offering the BSN, they have determined the credit hours and courses.
In order to continue to BSN, first you have to finish your RN with an overall gpa of 2.5 & then proceed to pass the NCLEX (state board) and get your license.
The pre-reqs. for BSN are College Algebra (or any college level math), Statistics, English Composition II & Microapps (which if you go for RN first, this is a pre-req. anyway).
So the smart move would be after taking the pre-reqs, try to get all the co-reqs of RN out of the way and during the summer, since you cannot take any nursing courses, try to take the pre-reqs for BSN.
BSN is not a limited access program and as long as you finish your RN, pass NCLEX, gpa of 2.5 & take the coreqs, you can apply.
This information was given to us by the Dean of Nursing on the nurse student day celebration of WC, and I wanted to share this in case some of you are interested.
Just got home and was pleasantly SHOCKED by my score! I told myself that 85 was ideal, but in the back of my mind had a feeling I was going to get a high 70, low 80. I got a 92.7! So relieved and thankful! As I was leaving the testing center, the proctor who printed my results said, "Let me know what hospital you work at so I can be one of your patients!" Lol!
I tried to upload a picture, but it wouldn't let me
We just moved here from Lakeland and I was at Polk State. I am trying to figure out the teas V score that will get me in. I have a 4.0 in the pre-recs and change my ID to show my Port Richey Address. I took the teas already and got a 73% I am trying to raise my score to all lease an 85%.
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to message on here or not, but if you want to e-mail me, I'd be more than happy to pass my flashcards along to you! [email protected]

ScarletJones,
Thank you.
To get the exact info regarding the available seats at WC talk to an advisor not the professors.
As to TEAS, get the tease guideline book from the college store, and make sure you make plans to carefully study all 4 sections. If you know that book, you should be fine.
You're right, students have no say as to which hospital they're gonna do the clinicals, but usually they try to keep you close to your residence. But it might not work at times though.
The application is just a simple form sheet, with all your info, that's it. Once you are accepted there is a long list to do. If you're interested I'll let leave another message in couple of months with details, just remind me please.
Good luck, and remember: getting in is very easy, staying till graduation is not so easy!
