PHCC Fall 2014 hopefuls!

Published

I want to meet some of you! I'm just getting ready to take my last 3 finals, have been studying for the TEAS for months now, and will be able to apply for next fall's nursing program (YAYAY!) I'd love to hear from some potential future classmates, how you are doing/ did with pre-reqs/ TEAS, and share the excitement upon acceptances!

I'm actually taking my summer courses with SPC since they offer A&P II online.

I took 5 classes last semester compared to 3 this one, and I think this semester will have double the work :bluecry1:

Hello everyone this is my first time on this website I applied to phsc lpn to rn bridge program and I had a few questions. How much does the prefferance count for I do not live in the area . Also if I turned in one application do they consider me for all available campuses . And does anyone have any idea of my chances I have a gpa of 3.2 and teas score of 73.3%

Hi,

By living in Pasco County you gain an extra 5%.

I believe you have to submit an application to each campus you wish to be considered for...at least thats what I was told for the Generic RN program.

I'm not sure about your GPA and TEAS - you should do a search on this website for previous applicants because many of them posted their scores and said if they got accepted or not which I think, if I recall correctly that some with scores comparable to yours did get in.

Good Luck...I hope you get in first time around!! :)

I believe you have a good chance of getting in. I am applying as well but I haven't taken the TEAs yet. I'd be happy if I got a 73% I know that last year you did not have to put in two separate applications for the bridge program.

I took A and P I online with SPC... I'm wondering if they will allow me to take II with SPC during the fall should I get into the RN program? I remember the adviser telling me that they essentially hand you your schedule, but I'm hoping they allow some minor flexibility...I'm still going to try to work part time and a rigid schedule might prove to be a real headache!

I think, but dont take my word for it, that you can do it as a transient student. I actually was planning on asking (if I get in) if I could take micro online as transient student when 2nd semester rolls around.

I decided to knock out A&P II over the summer since I have 3 children and didnt want to be away from home additional days apart from the nursing classes/clinicals. This is the first week of summer classes and holy sh*t is everything condensed :nailbiting: The lab portion is 2 chapters a week! Scary stuff...lol.

Girl, you are crazy! Lol I took public speaking and lifespan as half-term classes (term 2B) last semester (along with 2 other regular classes...and working full time) and about pulled my hair out...there was so. much. homework. I would literally wake up at 7 a.m., do homework, work noon to 5, make dinner, and then do homework from 6-10! It was INSANE! Definitely worth it though...I figured having to endure an entire semester of those wishy washy boring classes would probably be worse than death by homework! I kind of want to call the office and ask...do you think that would be a little neurotic of me considering I'm not even in the program yet? Lol I'm too much of a planner for my own good!

Hello

I applied for the transition program too. I heard everyone has a pretty good chance of getting in this yr considering this year is all lpn's and there's 72 seats available

Pewww! It's good to hear people with comparable scores to mine got in last year! I'm very very anxious ! I've tried to get into hcc and a bunch of other programs and this is my last chance or I might have to go to Galen=(

theAwife,

There is a program for each semester of RN which you will receive at the time of registration. Here is the sequence when you start in August:

A&P II is co-req for August, microbiology for Spring, English Comp. I & Ethics for summer & life-span for the next August. You "MUST" take those co-reqs in that sequence, if not taken earlier. I am almost sure you have to take it at PHSC if you have not passed those before they're due.

The last semester does not have co-req since Adult II & III, both clinicals and Nursing Scope is already a lot. Besides for the second year you'll be 4 days/week at campus and hospitals!

You can take any other classes outside the program if you want, but nobody does that since it's too much to handle.

I took college algebra and Comp I with my first semester, it was hard. That's why I have 5 classes this summer, lol

I'm in contact with a girl taking microbio over this summer semester and she told me that she ran across a girl in her class who is currently in the ADN program (admitted spring) but is taking micro early. I think there is a bit of ambiguity in regard to the dos and don'ts of the coreqs. The nursing-specific classes and clinicals would logically be nonnegotiable (although I've heard that one of the classes during the very last semester can be taken online), but you'd think they would allow a bit of flexibility for the coreqs--so long as they are done by the projected date then you are good. I'll have to see what I can find out.

TheAwife,

That's what I was trying to explain. I'm taking microbiology now. This coming fall is my second semester of RN and micro is a co-req for that, but I am taking it now in summer to get it out of the way. If however I would have not taken it this summer, then it would be a "must-take" in fall and I will not be allowed to take it later, no flexibility!

The co-reqs have to be either taken earlier or right on the semester they're scheduled for, not later! That's why almost all RN students have taken all the co-reqs before getting into the program or they take them during summer before the semester they are scheduled for.
