PHCC Fall 2014 hopefuls!

Published

I want to meet some of you! I'm just getting ready to take my last 3 finals, have been studying for the TEAS for months now, and will be able to apply for next fall's nursing program (YAYAY!) I'd love to hear from some potential future classmates, how you are doing/ did with pre-reqs/ TEAS, and share the excitement upon acceptances!

Nuscha,

I wonder if they let you take it as a transient student online (either before or in the due semester)?

PHSC doesnt offer that class online do they?

...Would you happen to be in a class with a girl named Nickolett!? I wonder if you're the girl she met! Lol

ScarletJones,

PHSC does not offer microbiology online. One of my friends however took it online at SPS. I heard you cannot take it in due semester anywhere else, only at PHSC. But if you can take it somewhere else before it's due and just transfer the credit.

TheAFwife,

Is she taking microbiology at west campus? If so, yes. There is only one lecture class this summer with 48 students!! I only know a few by name. Did she talk about me? lol

@Rayne I am in the same boat as you! If I don't get in, then I will be looking into Galen or Rasmussen. Let's hope we get in and become classmates ;) I'm praying all seats will be available for everyone who is applying.

I've heard bad things about Rasmussen. It is a private school and my friend who was looking forward to the speedy completion of the RN program offered there, but was disappointed with the school when 50% of the class did not pass Nursing 2. The material being drilled into them was not projected on the exam as they were told it would. Now she is looking into PHSC, but has to start from the beginning as the credits do not transfer anywhere. I'm hoping we all get in, and from the GPA's and TEAS scores I've seen posted so far I believe we should be getting acceptance letters.

Took the TEAS test again today and I got an 80% (improved from a 73%) which puts me in the "advanced" academic preparedness level! I will be submitting my application today. Good luck to everyone!

That sucks...I thought for sure you would be able to do it as a transient student.

So that means I would have to take it online with SPC in the fall if I wanted to bypass taking it in school in the spring (assuming I get in ).

Good job!! Good luck - hopefully we all become classmates :)

I too have heard nightmare stories.

The cost is outrageous to go there too.

@Gabby, Yes Rasmussen is a NIGHTMARE! but I did complete my 15 month LPN program there. I passed all my classes and the NCLEX on the first try. They do cost a fortune and require you to take so many additional classes. I really do not want to go back but if I don't get into PHSC again (this is my second year applying) then Idk if I can wait a whole year more to apply again. I am tired of putting my life on hold :( I just want to move forward, as I feel stuck! I want to get into PHSC's transition program more than anything! I have already finished ALL of my classes and if I can get in then I would only have to focus on the nursing classes, which is PERFECT! I need prayers lol

I initially approached Keiser University when I first made the decision to pursue nursing. I took one look at tuition, compared it to national averages, and said no way, Jose! Lol Their building was definitely beautiful, though. I think you mostly only hear the bad about those types of schools...every one is sure to make it known if they have something to belly ache about. I'm sure there are just as many satisfied students who are too busy with their new careers to make a review as there are ones who perhaps weren't dedicated enough to the curriculum or truly did get stuck with a rotten bunch of professors. I feel the exact same way when I encounter negative comments about PHSC! Some of the "awful" professors I was warned about have been my absolute favorites!

Cnamarieg, have you tried applying to different programs at all? SPC? HCC?
