And some still don't believe it is a real disease. Or that it will affect them or their loved ones ..

"200,000 people have died from Covid-19 in the US. That's more than the US battle deaths from 5 wars combined"

"Covid-19 is now the second-leading cause of death in the US, just after heart disease, according to the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME).

As someone who has worked with Covid patients and has seen the suffering and loss of life, I can't wrap my head around the public ignorance!! One shouldn't need to work in medical field to understand how dangerous this virus is. A quick look at the stats makes it perfectly clear!

Sorry for venting, I'm just so frustrated. Especially when I hear POTUS saying they're "doing a good job at handling this" and encouraging bars and schools to open back up!! What are they thinking really?

Also, the CDC admitting it is an airborne virus (we all knew that) then going back and retracting what they said?? Obviously a whistleblower leaked that official CDC update. Why are they covering up the reality? So even more people will die?

Use gloves to pick up the turd, and stay away from the swimming pool.

If I thought the majority of people would stay home when sick, wear masks, wash their hands, don't touch their face with unclean hands, social distance, etc., then states could open up.

Too many people don't have the luxury of staying home.  But, of course, at the same time, POTUS has to declare that pork and meat are essential which caused huge outbreaks when, in fact, we can live quite nicely without these two non-essential items.  That was a purely political maneuver.  I definitely would not be happy about not having my bacon and pot roast but that doesn't mean that I'm not mature enough to put off my personal gratification so that someone else doesn't have to die going to work in a meat factory.  What would you do if all the grocery store workers stayed home?

I understand that many people don't have the ability to stay home when sick without losing their jobs. But many more could stay home when sick.

And if people would try to social distance, and if people would wear masks, then opening up would not be as dangerous.

I agree that the decisions as to what truly is essential have been political. And many of the businesses that have not been allowed to reopen could - in fact - reopen safely.

It's a mess.

I feel at times nurses only see the reality of their 12 hr shifts. When a pt is concerned about being evicted cause they arent home to pay rent, that concern is real for that pt. Yet to a nurse, they are just a noncompliant pt who wants to go AMA.

Pt have to make choices, that may not be good for their health. It doesnt always mean they don't care about their health.

You touched on an important issue.  At least where I live, COVID 19 disproportionally affected the Hispanic community the worst.  It's not genetics, it's socio-economic status.  These hard-working people are our service workers who have to be forced to take public transportation, deal with the public as part of their job, and go home to a multi-generational family sometimes in congregate living quarters.  The same people who rely on their meager incomes and safety net institutions for their healthcare.
