I thought I should start a separate thread for those of us applying for the August 2015 start date. I mailed my application on Tuesday hopefully it reached the office today. Does anyone know if they still send out letters notifying you with how many points you received? If so when are they generally mailed out?
I emailed and asked if I would be getting an email with information or a packet any time soon and got a reply of:
'That information has not been set up to be sent out to the students as of yet. We are gathering things to get it out for you.
Thanks for your patience.'
So I guess we just wait and see.
I am curious to find out of we are to buy our scrubs or if we get them from the school (at a cost of course), as well as the name badges and emblems listed in the handbook. I wonder if this is a current handbook or maybe an old one? I also don't know what kind of shoes to buy as I usually just wear tennis shoes...
It's so frustrating all this waiting, it would be really nice to know just what we need to buy and when so I can budget accordingly.
Hello everyone! My name is Kelsey and I will be in the fall program. I have a friend who is currently in the program and she says that the check in date/orientation for her was in july before she started in august. She says on the orientation day we will be able to purchase our scrubs though the school. About shoes, stethoscopes, scissors, BP cuffs etc she said the program is kind of specific on what we can have and they will give us a sheet of acceptable brands/tools. She allllso said PV takes forever to email out info about the certified profile accounts and everything we will need to know about enrolling in course schedules due dates for our appointments etc. Can't wait to meet everyone!
I wondered If there was going to be a specific supply list. My hubby bought me a Littmann Classic III stethoscope. If it isn't on the allowed list, or it's color isn't, no worries I'll just use it after I graduate.
But, I don't understand why the nursing office is so unorganized. It isn't like they are reinventing the wheel each semester. I mean, they have a new class coming in each semester that needs immunizations, TB tests, physicals, background checks, CPR, and supplies. Certainly these do not change too much from each semester. Why couldn't they at least send out some of the requirements with the acceptance letter? Other schools do.
I do not like this un-organization, it doesn't speak well of the nursing program at PV. It is making me rethink my plan to apply next Aug. I am thinking about waiting and applying to UMKC in Jan. I am hoping that this un-organization is only in the nursing office and not a representation of how the whole program is. Really, it is very unprofessional. For instance all the differing times about when the application period was this past fall.
I guess after I have worked so hard to be able to be accepted I expect a top notch program that shows that they care about their students, want the program to be the very best, and are on top of the little details.
Sorry for the rant….I was thinking all this tonight on my way home from classes and then I saw the post from Kelsey.
Waiting to hear how the process goes for you guys because I still think PV is where I need to be.
I'm TOTALLY with you on that Lilacs! I am becoming very frustrated with the waiting and I will be very upset if I spent $100 on shoes and they say they are unacceptable. I don't have much money and I am trying to figure out how much I need to put back for supplies, scrubs, fees, etc.
I have started working on getting some things done that were sent with my acceptance letter; Got my first TB done and have my second scheduled. I got my TDaP booster and have had bloodwork done to check my titers. I had planned on getting my BLS done as close to the check in as possible but since I have ZERO clue when that will be I guess I had better go ahead and get that scheduled too.
I keep checking my email only to see nothing has come yet and when I contact them I get the same answer, asking me to be patient and they will get things out when they do. I find it very unorganized and unprofessional and I am terrified that this is the sort of thing I will be dealing with for the next two years.
Hello everyone, I to will be joining you this fall. I was happy to see that I am not the only one anxiously awaiting to hear about schedules, supplies etc. Hopefully it will be very soon. My biggest thing is my work schedule and giving plenty of notice to changes that may occur. Congratulations and I can't wait to meet all of you.

Hello everyone!
I'll be joining you all in the fall program and I'm excited to get started. I received my confirmation letter about 2 weeks ago and emailed my acceptance. I received an email back stating to watch my email for further instructions but haven't heard anything yet. The list I got with the letter is a bit overwhelming. I just so happened to have a doctors appointment and labs scheduled already so I called to add getting titers an/or boosters, etc, to it. It takes me awhile to get in to see my doctor so I don't know if I should go ahead and set up another appointment for the physical since I don't have a form for them to fill out...
I just don't want to wait and have to rush things along to get them done when there hasn't been a check in date given...
Is anyone else stressed out? lol
