Hey Everyone,
I don't see a thread for 2015 yet, so I thought I'd start one. I'm just beginning the application process, and the clinical narrative is killing me. I precepted in trauma at a trauma center, so it was get them in, get them out: usually to a rehab. I can't think of how I might have changed their lives or had a big impact. I was able to attain great skills and do frequent assessments: neuro, neurovascular, cardio, telemetry strips, etc. and do and see some great stuff, I wish I could write about that!
I'd like to hear from anyone applying now or who applied in the past. Any pointers?
I have been working with my university's career services because I wanted to get out in front of this job search. it was suggested that I write personalized cover letters and resumes for each hospital and each position that I apply to, incorporating key words from the job description. I just figured I'd share what I found because I was surprised by that!
I have personalized all the cover letters. If they're magnet, I write how I want to be in magnet. If the job is med-surg/trauma/cardiac/whatever, I write how I am qualified for that track. I always write the job # up top. Always put the address of the hospital. I still get precious few positive responses.

The resume is resume. Doesn't matter which job you are applying. Your education same and work experience same as well. Only thing u may need to edit cover letter.
