PearsonVue: Personal Belongings

Published

So my friend took the NCLEX yesterday and stated that at the site, before entering the test room, the PV officials conducted a search of his belongings and his pockets. They pretty much made him empty his pockets in his pants and shirt. Is this normally how they conduct their security measures? I feel it's not fair, and I have never heard of them doing anything like this before...

I know we are suppose to remove watches wallets cell phones PDA, ipads, i pods, etc but what gives them the right to search through the person's pockets and do a pat down?

Did they think he would try to cheat that badly?

What do you guys think happened there and is that what they usually do?

How did they "search" you guys? If they did at all -__-

Thanks Nurse Lil-lea, I will have to learn to curb this habit. Helpful information.

This is standard. I had to take off my hair tie from my arm and I had to turn my pockets inside out so they could see that I didn't have anything in them.

I had a cold and I couldn't even use my own tissue I brought in with me, I had to use theirs. They checked my sleeves, turned pockets inside out, no watch, finger print in, figure print out (very nerve racking)....They didn't do a pat down though.

Took my test today, I was asked to pat down myself, arms legs, waist, back, almost everything while the tester watched. This was after emptying my pockets, feeling in my back pockets, lifting my hair and checking around my ears and neck line........at the time I was anxious to get in and begin my test so I thought it was a hassle but when telling someone else the story, it all seemed a bit inappropriate and unusual.

They gave me tissues and ear plugs and I had to toss those in their garbage can. No searching, but they watched me like a hawk when I put my things in my locker. My hand was a little cold so I stuck it in my sweater under my right arm, but they didn't seem to mind that.

Just don't expect to bring ANY.THING into the room other than your specs and your id (in a bag, oddly). Srsly, NOTHING else. No chapstick. No water. No snax. No meds (they *might* allow an inhaler if you have a note from a doc, but probably not). Nada. Just you and your brain and that damn computer. And don't erase your white board. They bring you a new one if you fill it up.
