Pearson Vue Trick--trick no more

Published

Hello everyone!

I took the NCLEX RN last Aug 23, 2014 at 8AM. It was my first take on the exam, and was understandably anxious (and scared) to start and get over with it. We arrived an hour and a half before the start time. I checked-in and was assisted by a fine, old gentleman. I got to start the exam earlier than scheduled (they allow it, as long as you are checked-in, you can immediately start). The tutorial sort of calmed my nerves but to my surprise I was trembling when I started reading the first question! It really helped a lot that you have control on your pacing, so I got comfortable as the exam went on. And so it was, my exam stopped after the 75th question. I finished the tutorial, exam and survey in two hours. OMG! Either I passed or failed miserably fast!

I have been reading about the pearson vue trick, how it works, etc. I planned to check on it an hour after the exam. I logged on to the pearson vue website and got the "good" pop-up. Oh my was I on cloud nine. Thank you Lord! Of course, I checked again after an hour or so, and still I got the good pop-up.

Now, it so happens that that day August 23, 2014, there was a scheduled website maintenance from 5:00-11:00PM CDT. True enough I couldn't access the site during those times. But the stubborn in me still couldn't resist checking the site after the said schedule. So I logged in again, but this time, pearson vue had a new "interface", the old one had the register option on the left. The new website had a "START THE REGISTRATION PROCESS" button right in the middle of the page.

I did try to register again, and do the pearson vue trick again. I answered the questions, etc...and then when I pressed the Next button, praying I would still get the "good" pop-up (to reaffirm my "unofficial" passing result), alas, it went straight to the credit card page!!! I felt shivers in my spine, OMG! "Does this mean I failed?", I thought. I was in denial. I thought, it probably was because they updated the website, after all, I still got the "good" pop-up before the scheduled maintenance. I guess I was just convincing myself at that point. I tried again and again and still went straight to the cc page, I was devastated. It didn't help that my result wasn't available that whole weekend. It was agonizing! Did I pass, did I fail? Waaaaaahhhhh!!

But then thank God for quick results, it was available this morning! I was ambivalent to check because I didn't know how would I react. But of course, I'm not the type who prolongs the agony. I went ahead and paid $7.95 and then the result was available on the next page... I PASSED!!! Praise the Lord!

After I finally got the "unofficial" passing result. I tried again to register for the exam...and still it lead to the cc page, even if I already passed!

Hence, based on my experience, the Pearson Vue trick cannot tell anymore whether you pass or fail after AUGUST 23, 2014. Even if you passed or failed, it will still let you start a registration process and lead you to the cc page. Thus, no more so-called "Pearson Vue Trick". I don't know if this is temporary or permanent, but what I know is that it changed when they had that website maintenance. Its sad that we can't rely anymore on this "trick" to reduce our anxiety and get a "quicker" "unofficial" result.

This just means that future takers of the NCLEX RN would have to rely on the "quick results" option (48 hours after the exam) or wait for their official results in the mail to know for sure what their result is.

Thank you, and apology accepted.

Very often on message boards, tone, inflection, and intent cannot be determined by words printed on a screen. As experienced nurses, we do have the tendency to be blunt. When this is weighed against the excited nervousness of someone who just finished school and who is very anxious, that bluntness can seem more harsh. When the same rumors/statements/questions are made over and over again in brand new threads and existing threads, we can sometimes raise that level of bluntness. It does get rather tiring to answer the same question repeatedly when the answers are already easily available in numerous threads.

I don't believe that anyone on this forum wishes to hurt the feelings of, or disparage, others. And I sincerely apologize if anything that I originally posted made anyone feel that way, that was definitely not my intent.

I think we could all take a moment to search a little more for answers, and exercise patience. It can only help.

The last paragraph sums everything up in a nice little nutshell. We have all had to wait for test results, while in school and for the NCLEX.

I am so thankful that when I took state boards, I knew nothing of the PVT. I don't even know if it was a thing 8 years ago. I just assumed the worse, while hoping for the best. I read these posts of people analyzing and arguing over the so called "new PVT". It gives me anxiety for the test takers.

My advice, try to keep busy while waiting for the quick results ( sorry to those who do not have that option) ?. Think of it as 2 days where you don't have to fill your mind with anything nursing related!!

Good luck to all those awaiting results or taking the test soon!

Maybe so which is why I used a gift card with a 0 balance, all of my classmates have done the same and not one yet who passed was charged the $200

Did there payment get processed but not charged ?

No it just wont go thru even if you use. Card with insufficient funds it wont process if you passed, should you fAil and try it will say cAnnot process due to insufficient funds

Does it still say "Delivery successful" somewhere or am I just paranoid?

I agree to an extent, but some people do not frequent this site, they find it off of a google search and do not know any better, and not knowing how to navigate allnurses.com isn't really something that is going to bother me all that much, especially for newbies.

This may be their first exposure to the site, and in order to have them replace you in the future as knowledgeable and experienced nurses willingly giving free advice, we should make sure they enjoy that initial exposure.

Anyway just my two cents. Either way your efforts are appreciated.

Here's an update: I passed according to Quick Results!!! Yay :). Thank you again everyone for your help.

I took NCLEX for the 2nd time today. I failed the first time at 275 questions. I passed all sections besides one that time. This time around, I studied non stop-on my days off I would study 12 hours a day. I was determined I would pass this time around. The last 3 days all I have done is study, study, study. I took the test & it shut off at 75 questions!!! I started to cry right there at the computer. I honestly wanted the test to turn back on. I either failed miserably or I passed. I had a lot of SATA (yet again), so I'm hoping that is a good thing. I am too scared to try the "trick" now that you have to enter all of your info before you can see if the "good pop up" appears. I can be patient for 2 days, right? I didn't tell anyone when my 2nd test date was, so not one friend or family member know I took it today. We'll see how I did in 2 days.

i just took nclex rn, finished in 75 questions with 19 SAT and left the testing center about an hour ago. I did the trick and was taken to the cc screen and cried and let me classmates know that i have failed. I decided to enter my cc number and submit it. Instead of getting a reciept page, i got a pop up that states: "our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. another registration can't be made at this time." i had to retract all statements to my class and tell them i have no idea whats going on because before it wouldn't take you that far into registration. I guess the "trick" my be updated? i guess since i got that pop up and not a reciept i probably passed? i guess ill know in 48 hrs.

Please see the title of the thread.

honestly not enough proof one way or the other to tell if there is any correlation between the new pop up and having passed the exam. But you are correct, you will know soon enough! :) congrats on taking it either way!

Let us know!

Since some states does not participate in the quick results.

To those who have tried this trick and receive the " Our records indicate that you have recently schedule this exam. Another registration can't be made at this time" AND their states participate in the quick results can you let us know what the outcome is? So we can get some more detail on this trick

Hi everyone I took NCLEX on September 5th. This was my second time..I live in California. I was unaware of the update and when i did the trick it went to the CC page so naturally i assumed i failed, So that evening i decided I would pay for another test and keep moving forward to pass this test and when I went to the CC page again, and put my CC in thinking they would take my payment, I got a pop up saying I was unable to register at this time in RED with a red Triangle on it. The trick still works, they just made it so that everyone has to go to CC and submit a payment form to check it, I don't mind because i wanted to pay for it if i failed, but if you don't want to charge your card, then use a card with insufficient funds and it will say it declined due to insufficient funds, thus you failed because they tried charging your card. There are other resources online other than this site about the new trick, if you doubt it, try checking them out, so far the new pop up trick has been right for those who got it, if you don't like to bother with this type of way to know, then wait for your letter, Me, I just want to know and move on. and pay if I failed and try again. But unfortunately they will not allow me to pay so I am assuming I passed. I will update when i get letter, :) (Those who are interested in finding out more about the new NCLEX pop up go to caring4you.net and it takes you step by step how the new trick works) Good Luck!
