Pearson Vue Trick--trick no more

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello everyone!

I took the NCLEX RN last Aug 23, 2014 at 8AM. It was my first take on the exam, and was understandably anxious (and scared) to start and get over with it. We arrived an hour and a half before the start time. I checked-in and was assisted by a fine, old gentleman. I got to start the exam earlier than scheduled (they allow it, as long as you are checked-in, you can immediately start). The tutorial sort of calmed my nerves but to my surprise I was trembling when I started reading the first question! It really helped a lot that you have control on your pacing, so I got comfortable as the exam went on. And so it was, my exam stopped after the 75th question. I finished the tutorial, exam and survey in two hours. OMG! Either I passed or failed miserably fast!

I have been reading about the pearson vue trick, how it works, etc. I planned to check on it an hour after the exam. I logged on to the pearson vue website and got the "good" pop-up. Oh my was I on cloud nine. Thank you Lord! Of course, I checked again after an hour or so, and still I got the good pop-up.

Now, it so happens that that day August 23, 2014, there was a scheduled website maintenance from 5:00-11:00PM CDT. True enough I couldn't access the site during those times. But the stubborn in me still couldn't resist checking the site after the said schedule. So I logged in again, but this time, pearson vue had a new "interface", the old one had the register option on the left. The new website had a "START THE REGISTRATION PROCESS" button right in the middle of the page.

I did try to register again, and do the pearson vue trick again. I answered the questions, etc...and then when I pressed the Next button, praying I would still get the "good" pop-up (to reaffirm my "unofficial" passing result), alas, it went straight to the credit card page!!! I felt shivers in my spine, OMG! "Does this mean I failed?", I thought. I was in denial. I thought, it probably was because they updated the website, after all, I still got the "good" pop-up before the scheduled maintenance. I guess I was just convincing myself at that point. I tried again and again and still went straight to the cc page, I was devastated. It didn't help that my result wasn't available that whole weekend. It was agonizing! Did I pass, did I fail? Waaaaaahhhhh!!

But then thank God for quick results, it was available this morning! I was ambivalent to check because I didn't know how would I react. But of course, I'm not the type who prolongs the agony. I went ahead and paid $7.95 and then the result was available on the next page... I PASSED!!! Praise the Lord!

After I finally got the "unofficial" passing result. I tried again to register for the exam...and still it lead to the cc page, even if I already passed!

Hence, based on my experience, the Pearson Vue trick cannot tell anymore whether you pass or fail after AUGUST 23, 2014. Even if you passed or failed, it will still let you start a registration process and lead you to the cc page. Thus, no more so-called "Pearson Vue Trick". I don't know if this is temporary or permanent, but what I know is that it changed when they had that website maintenance. Its sad that we can't rely anymore on this "trick" to reduce our anxiety and get a "quicker" "unofficial" result.

This just means that future takers of the NCLEX RN would have to rely on the "quick results" option (48 hours after the exam) or wait for their official results in the mail to know for sure what their result is.

I'm not really sure how putting credit card information in and clicking submit on a $200 nonrefundable charge just because you're too impatient to wait like a rational human being gives a person peace of mind. It's not known AT ALL whether it's reliable, and honestly, it's crazy to want to find out if it is. Seriously, people, stop doing that. Send ME $200 if you're that eager to just throw away your money.

Like i said i used an old gift card because i wasn't about to use my check card and waste $200 to see if i passed or not. Just sharing my experience so maybe it may help others

Even if that were the case, and it did not work in your case under the old format (mind you I do not think it works at all under the new format so that is neither here nor there), your personal crusade against it is obviously misguided.

and using it has caused more anxiety

how has it caused more anxiety exactly? Its allowed people to have an immediate, and very accurate idea of what their grade is. Considering it worked for the great majority, and brought most of them either early elation, or worst case, early realization of an unfortunate situation, the occasional heartache it may of caused you (and a scant few others), is well worth spreading the overall effectiveness of the trick.

Consequently, it is also quite worth it to find out if the new website format, allows itself to somehow also indicate prospective nurses of their passing or failure. Something you have by no means figured out yet, as unless you can show me otherwise, I have not read of any false positives nor negatives. Once you compile that information, you go right ahead and show us all how inaccurate it really is, in the meantime try not to be bothered when people post here, or in some other thread about how they want to know if there is a trick that will allow them to feel peace of mind a couple of days prior to the quick results.

By no means is such a desire, such a search for reassurance, something that increases anxiety. So thank you for your crusade against the pvt, im sure your intentions were noble darling, but fear not, it does more good than harm, so save your valiant and time-consuming efforts for a cause more worthy of your virtuous intentions ;)

My personal crusade? Really? What the heck is your problem, bro? What have I--or anyone--ever done to you? You come in here making personal attacks against members, and for what reason? Because we are trying to HELP other people? Wow. Just wow. If you don't like it, don't read it!

MANY experienced nurses (myself included) here have tried to provide good information to those seeking it.

We can't help that you are choosing to ignore threads that already exist. You want to see the people who have reported being charged under what people are calling the "new PVT", but subsequently passed? They are here. They reported it themselves. You want to see the people who have reported the "new PVT" good pop-up, but subsequently failed? They are here, too.

Take a look around. READ a thread (or 100), and find out for yourself. All you have to do is CLICK HERE. Scroll, click, read, scroll, click, read, scroll, click, read. Validate it for yourself. But what you don't do is attempt to personally tear someone down because you didn't take the initiative to find the information for yourself, and then attack and demonize people who are trying to lend a hand.

And if you don't want to see it, don't look. I don't care. But don't waltz in here on your high horse slinging personal insults at others because a) it isn't cool, b) you don't know what you are talking about, c) no one in this forum has treated you unkindly, or in a like manner.

Step off, dude. There is simply no cause for your angst.

I had no idea that the "trick" was updated nor did I know what to expect. All I knew was that I heard if you saw the credit card page then that was bad! I honestly don't know what to think. I started at 8 and was out of the center by 9. Anyway, I don't know how accurate this updated "trick" is, but i got a red message: "Our records indicate that you have already scheduled this exam......" and did not take my payment. I suspect everyone gets the same message regardless of results seeing as I bet the aim of updating the system was to prevent the "trick" from working.

Please stop with all the attacking of each other. This is not an individual's idea or fault that this computer glitch no longer works.

Last warning - AN is a place of support not derision! Thank you.

Right after i took my test this morning i literally got into my car and tried to check and didnt get the message, then this evening i tried again with a used visa gift card and i got the red message and couldn't go any further. I live in VA so i cant pay the 7.95 for quick results so hopefully monday I'll know for sure.

Did you pass??

I don't know I took the exam today 9/5 at 8am? Status says results not available but when I try to pay it says I'm already registered . What about you?

Same here, I've talked to a friend who just passed last week and she said the red writing with the same pop up info as before means you passed... My fingers are crossed!

I did some research and have found that there are people who had to pay and did fail once their quick results were in. One person tried all kinds of cards to see if it altered the message but it did not and she passed

In addition to the trick you can check the bon to see if your permit is still there. If it isn't then you've failed. My permit is still up and I got the "good" message.

It still works, you just need to actually put in the credit card information and be brave and hit send, after that is when you get the good pop up. I did it just yesterday.
