Pearson Vue Trick did NOT work for me and I PASSED!

Nursing Students NCLEX Nursing Q/A

I just wanted to make a post in hopes that this will come up for potential nurses googling about the Pearson Vue Trick (PVT)

I took my NCLEX in January of 2017, and decided to try the PVT so many people swear by. I did NOT get the good pop up, cried cause well obviously it didn't work so figured I had failed. Nope! I passed.

The Pearson Vue Trick does NOT always work. Don't let it trick you!

This is was my second time taking the NCLEX, I failed the first one. It happens! I just picked myself up and studied some more. Passed it the second time with minimum questions. There is so much online help out there! So good luck to everyone!

No, I put in the wrong exp. number. Other girls from my class did the same, correct everything EXCEPT the expiration, did NOT get the "good" pop up, and passed

Did the message tell you to resubmit your card info because you gave invalid info? If so, all you know is that the computer recognized you gave it invalid info. It might have tried to charge it because that's what it's designed to do, it's what you're asking it to do by submitting your credit card info. Card could have been declined because you were scamming it and it knew it, but unless you put in the right info you don't know if your card was declined for that reason or because you failed and it tried to charge you for new registration.

All you know is that you gave the wrong information and the registration program asked you for the right information. Doesn't mean the trick was wrong for you it means you didn't do it correctly. My opinion is to not do it at all as if you did give it the right info it could have still given you "the good pop up" or it could have charged you $200 anyway. Stupid game IMHO. Congrats on passing!

Could you describe how you did it and what it said ? A lot of people are doing it wrong, not saying you did. Just curious because the trick does seem to work with most people.

Specializes in Hospice, Palliative Care.

I had the same problem where the trick didn't work though I did pass.

Are you guys doing it right though ? Most people I've seen say that it didn't work either did it too early or completely wrong.

it worked for me,passed at 75 questions,Iwas scared ,but the pearson trick did worked

I've heard SO many people say this trick works and I believe you. I took my test yesterday and tried the PVT with the "good" pop up. I entered the wrong exp date just to make sure I didn't get charged the $200 (in case I did pass). The pop stated "our records indicate that you have recently scheduled the exam. Another registration cannot be made." A "bad" pop up would've stated that the card got declined or it could not be processed. I'm hopeful that I passed but I'm still waiting on results!

I don't get why ppl are trying so hard to defend this Pvt and say I did it wrong. I made this post for future nurses who do this stupid Pvt and don't get the so called "good popup" and get discouraged. You still have hope! I followed the directions and did it correctly. I also know two girls from my class that had the same thing happen. I noticed on all the other posts of ppl saying it didn't work there's always ppl trying to say no you did it wrong it does work blah blah blah. Gosh, it's annoying.

I'm absolutely notdefending the PVT, lol I think it's a stupid gimmick too! I'm only saying that when you enter invalid info it's a crapshoot, you might get the "card declined" notice ONLY because you gave it invalid info and NOT because you failed. And sometimes it means you failed.

YOU said you "didn't get the good pop up" after putting in invalid card information. That is why people are telling you that you did not do it correctly. Because entering invalid info is, like I said, a crapshoot, but not the way to see if you passed. All THAT does is tell you that the registration program didn't like your card.

Doing the PVT correctly means entering in all valid info, nothing less. If you got charged it is extremely unlikely you passed, although that does happen. But claiming that you did this silly game correctly and yet "didn't get the good pop up" only tells us that you did not do it correctly, you didn't get charged (because you didn't give the accurate card info) and you didn't get the good popup (because you didn't give accurate card info). I don't care about what two other students in your class did or didn't do, like I said it's a crapshoot. I think it's a stupid game and I tell people to skip it. But you can't say it didn't work if you didn't actually DO it. That's the point.

You are correct. It doesn't work for everyone. I just took mine last Friday. I tried the trick. Put all of the CORRECT credit card information in. Went all the way to the page where you review your order and submit your payment. This is the page where the pop up is supposed to appear, but I got no pop-up. I was literally one click away from paying for another exam, so I was convinced that I had failed. I checked the quick results 2 days later and I passed. It works, but not for everyone, which makes it a grossly unreliable technique for checking the status of your exam.

You were also one click away from doing it correctly. The "pop up" everyone talks about ONLY HAPPENS AFTER you have entered all that information, AND CLICK SUBMIT. THEN and only then do you either get a dialogue box telling you that you cannot make another registration at this time (good pop up) OR a box telling you that you have now registered for another exam, $200 charge made (bad pop up).

You did NOT do the PVT, you stopped exactly one step SHORT of it. There is no magical pop up that appears BEFORE you submit the financial info completely. If you HAD done that final 'click' you would know if the PVT worked for you (because it would have told you that you couldn't complete a registration again) or did not work for you (because it would have taken your $200 anyway).

Which is why it's a stupid game in the first place, but if you don't play it right, you can't say it didn't work!

Hi, i did the pvt too up to the final submit and it did not work for me too. I put in the right credit card details. After 2 days, i purchased the quick results and i passed..

When you said you did the pvt "up to the final submit and it did not work for me", are you saying that you CLICKED that final submit, and were charged $200? If so, then there's proof that the pvt did not work for you. If you did not click that final (second) submit, at which point you would get either a good pop up (cannot make another registration) or a bad pop up (charged $200 for another registration), then I stand by what I've said before: you did not do the pvt. You stopped before finishing, because you did NOT finish the submission of your card info.

If you were not charged $200, you did not get a "wrong" PVT that didn't work. You never completed it to find out.

Congrats on your passing, honestly! But when people keep saying "pvt didnt' work for me, I put in wrong card info and it got declined" or "PVT didn't work for me, I clicked submit once but didn't finalize it, I got no pop up" then it's silly to have them insist they played the game, when they did not.

So, for clarification, did you get charged $200 for submitting the correct card info and passed anyway? Then it didn't work. Didn't get charged $200? Then you didn't finish the last step to find out.

To be clear I think the PVT is stupid, and I always tell people to just pay the eight dollars for the Quick Results if you have that option, or wait for official results if you don't! But it does get a little frustrating when people who don't do something correctly insist that it doesn't work. It'd be like me plugging in my vacuum cleaner, pushing it around the floor, and insisting it must be broken----if you don't push the "ON" button lol it doesn't work!

So I just wanted to post my experience as I am wondering if others have had it charge them and got the "bad pop up" I am wondering if i did it too early and actually did pass... I waited about 6 hours after my exam. Finished at 6pm and then checked at midnight and had it charge me. Is there any chance it is a false negative?!? Please help!

*I should also mention that I am in Canada and I do not have the option of quick result here, sadly.

Thanks!

Hi there, I see there is some conflict on what constitutes the right and wrong way to complete the trick, i watched several videos and looked at several forums and saw that you should get the so called " good pop up" before you do the final submit of payment. How ever I have also seen that people put in the wrong expiration dates and do the final submit of payment and get the " good pop up", but let me just say I did not get the pop up on the first part I described and got a payment declined on one where i entered my cc info with one number change to my security code and expiration date, i was told payment declined, which of course made me think awful things right away, but like another person said it could be just recognizing that you entered the wrong information. I am not willing at this time to risk $200. I was also stupid enough to take my test on a friday, is i guess that means i will be waiting a while to get even the "quick results". This is the worst wait of my life! but I will be sure to let y'all know what happens. I didn't get the good pop up the way a lot of others did before submitting payment, so I'm really hoping that its a good thing that payment way declined. Maybe that is another possibly good pop up.. one can only hope! anyways thanks for this forum y'all! Be safe!
