Pearson Vue Trick "Facts"

Since the PVT is one of the largest points of discussion here and the questions are repeated over and over I thought I would provide some insight.

What Members Are Saying (AI-Generated Summary)

Members are discussing their experiences with the Pearson Vue Trick (PVT) after taking the NCLEX exam. Some users are sharing their success stories with the PVT, while others are skeptical of its accuracy. There is also confusion and clarification sought regarding the research questions included in the exam and how they impact the final score. Additionally, users are sharing their anxieties and uncertainties about waiting for official results and license postings.

After you test you should receive an email stating something along the lines of "Now that you've completed your NCLEX blah blah blah". It is at this point that you can try the PVT to get an IDEA where you stand. However, your test is graded twice. Once automatically and once by Pearson Vue staff just to be sure the computer got it right. This usually happens within the first 24 hours and is why many say the results are only accurate post 24 hours. In which case you really could be failing at first and then when the 15 research questions are removed you could be passing and vice versa.

When you try the PVT you can use a prepaid card that has very little money on it, or put in your correct CC number and incorrect CVC (security code), whether or not you put in the correct expiration date is up to you, but I would change it to be safe. Once you officially submit the payment you will get one of four pop ups--

Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time.~~~ GOOD POPUP

The candidate currently has an open registration for this exam. A new registration cannot be made at this time.~~~ GOOD POPUP

Card declined (for whatever reason)~~~ BAD POPUP

The candidate currently has test results that are on hold. Another registration cannot be made at this time.~~~Means NOTHING, they are simply taking another look at your exam to be sure you didn't cheat. This could be from odd movements during your test that caught their eye, difficult palm vein scans, finishing quickly, something that happened with the computer system that you had no idea about, your computer cut off in the middle of your test, literally anything they deemed as suspicious or the computer flagged.

Once the hold is lifted you will either get the good or the bad popup.

Please note that if your pop up isn't worded EXACTLY like this or is SLIGHTLY different it still means the SAME THING. Therefore, do not freak out thinking you did/didn't pass because of that.

Are there people who do everything exactly right and the PVT doesn't work for them? YES. However, that number is VERY small and most of the time the people it "doesn't work" for did not do it correctly. If done correctly it will work and will be rather accurate as it is with the OVERWHELMING majority of testers.

Is it possible to be charged and still pass? Yes, it is. If you do then you are one of those people that I talked about when I said some didn't do the trick correctly. ? The PVT is simply an exploitation of the company's billing software in a way that wasn't meant to be. Therefore, if you punch in all of the credit card info and it takes your money..... ? oh well, it's doing what it is designed to do.

The PVT isn't definite because it wasn't designed to be. However, overwhelming majority proves that it is rather accurate, but should only be used as an idea of where you stand until you either get your quick results, or see your name on your BON.

I believe I have covered most of the topics that I see regularly asked. If you get a good pop up, take it as a good chance that you passed and relax until you get your results. If you get the bad one recognize that it means you probably failed, but you will not know until you get your results.

I failed my first time taking the NCLEX and got the bad pop up, passed the second time with the good pop up. The most important thing is to not drive yourself CRAZY scouring the internet trying to find situations just like yours or asking a million times whether or not we all believe you passed because it'll only stress you out more. TRUST ME I KNOW. Good luck to you all! The NCLEX will really mess with your mind, but we all made it through nursing school and assuming you put your best foot forward while there, you CAN and WILL PASS the NCLEX!!

Yes.... it is

I took my nclex on a monday morning in new york and as everyone thinks i also thought yup im gunna stop at 75 questions. all the questions i got i thought were pretty easy and when the computer didnt stop i was like ok fine just a few more so let me answer these right to i can get out of here. nope it kept going and i was getting soo restless but i kept praying. i had to stop and tell myself pay attention and answer to the best of ur ability!. it finally shut off at 265 questions and i thought yes im done because for some strange reason i thought there was more questions like i thought RN nclex went up to 300 odd questions but it doesnt idk wat i was thinking. i came home and i researched and found that people pass and fail with 265 questions and i was so scared. i did the pvt trick and it said results on hold! i was like omgsh im done for ! i did more research and found out that having ur results on hold can mean different things like having trouble with the palm vein scanner which i had at the testing center!! my palm scan didnt match the scans from the scans i had when i took my lpn nclex. so that hold pop came up for a day and then i called my board of nursing and she told me yea ur results shud be released by the 48 hour mark and i was like ok. at 4pm tuesday i did the pvt and it came up that our records show u have recently taken .... i was soo happy then i kept doing it and it coming up with the good pop up. finally at 48 hrs later at 9:10am i got the results and i passed! guys the trick works and remain faithful!!!

Hello everyone! I am very sure most of you guys have seen this topic multiple times already but I just wanted to share my story and have a conversation with you guys. So, here is my situation...

I took the NCLEX on Thursday, December 7 in California. The computer stopped me at #131 and even though I know I got the last question right, I understand that that doesn't really mean anything. I did not check the BON until Monday morning and I did not see my name. I was disappointed but I tried the Pearson Vue trick to confirm the BON results and it turns out, i got the good pop-up ("Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. another registration cannot be made at this time")!!!!! Now, I understand the Pearson Vue trick does not always work out but I do also understand that California takes a while to process everything.

So, I was wondering if I could hear your guys' experience when it comes to this...anyone in California who passed and had to wait a long time/how long? Anyone who did the Pearson Vue trick and got the good pop up and failed/passed? etc.

Well, if anyone is reading this, I have an update following this post....

I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The PVT worked for me! So I took the exam on a Thursday, tried the PVT on Monday, and saw my name on the website on Tuesday! If you are reading this and are about to take the exam, I wish you the best of luck!!! This was my second time taking the exam and I initially used Kaplan but after I failed my first time I decided to use Uworld, Saunders and the "Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment" book. These definitely worked out for me :)

Congratulations. It must have been hard to go the distance at 265 but you stayed focused and defeated the beast.

How many weeks or months did you wait for ATT? for your 2nd attempt. Its been almost 2 months for meí ½í¸©

THIS thread was so helpful. I got the on hold the first 48 hrs after my exam then switch to a good pop up. I received my congratulatory letter yesterday and paid for my license fee through breeze.

Worry and fear of failure were my greatest enemy throughout RN school, including my preparation for the NCLEX.

It was unfounded

Those two things were my biggest demons as well. I'm trying to defeat them pre-NCLEX. Unless I second-guess myself, and my confidence is tanked, I'm not going to fail. Thanks. This helped reassure me.

I don't understand how when you do the PVT you could put in an INCORRECT CVC or expiration date, I don't get how that wouldn't make the card invalid. I would think that it would not work because you didn't use the correct CVC and/or expiration date. I get the theory that it isn't going to try to charge you unless you failed, and thus it wouldn't find out the card doesn't work unless it tried to charge you (which would mean you failed). But, in that case, wouldn't you get some kind of pop-up saying that your card didn't work? I guess that implies it tried to charge you, and thus you failed. But it still seems so weird to me. I didn't do the PVT - as Extra Pickles said - I think most people that do it, just do it over and over again until they get their results because the "popup" could change until they get the quick results or official results. So, it seems it wouldn't really relieve anyone's stress at all! But, to each his own!! Whatever gets you through the wait!! :)

I'm confused about a couple of things and just want to clarify...

You said "In which case you really could be failing at first and then when the 15 research questions are removed you could be passing and vice versa." Then someone asked if this was referring to the 15 out of the first 75 questions which do not count towards the result (I'm assuming they mean the short tutorial in the beginning of how to answer questions) or the research test questions we get after completing the exam. You said, "yes it is." I thought the first 15 questions, the short tutorial, didn't count and that if you got selected for the research questions at the end, those do not count either. How can you be failing at first and then the 15 research questions be removed and then be passing or vice versa if they don't count anyways? Do they initially count them and then remove them?

You said "EVERYONE who takes the NCLEX receives 15 research questions within the 1st 75 questions of their test that do not apply towards their score. After the first 75 questions, every question will be a live question that counts toward their score until their test either cuts off, or they get a screen stating from that point forward the questions are all research questions." Wouldn't every question be a live question after the first 15 research questions?

Great article! I really enjoyed reading it! Maybe now we won't get so many darn posts about PVT!! (Probably not though ;), but one can hope!!)

Regarding the research questions--15 questions are randomly incorporated within the first 75 questions. Meaning you could get 5 live questions, followed by a research, followed by more live questions etc. Question 75 might even be a research one but you won't be able to tell which is which (to preserve the research). Therefore, after 75 questions you will have completed all 15 research questions. All questions after that are live questions that will count toward the final score. Hope this helps!

I took my test on 6/27/28... did the PVT and got the bad pop up. My application on CA Breeze disappeared today. I am taking a failure for sure. My IP is still current, which I am not taking as a good sign even if every cell in my body wants it to be a good sign. How long before I get actual results in mail? I looked at BRN website and they're processing results from 07/01-07/15. I'm just anxious to see what I did bad and scheduling a re test. My test shut off at 98 q's.

thanks guys.

So I just tried the Pearson Vue Trick and recieved our records indicate that you already have another exam scheduled
