Can a hospital rescind their offer?

They said it’s fine! Thanks everyone...I guess they see this pretty frequently
  2. I accepted a job offer with a union hospital. I signed all the paper work, background check, on boarding, and everything else pre employment. I have been waiting for my license in that state for weeks and was told it’s going to be a few weeks more. My start date has been pushed back once already and is likely going to be pushed back two more times due to my license. Do you think the hospital could retract their offer? I just signed a lease on an apartment so I’m extremely worried now.

    Neuro-ICU to other ICUs?

Hello! I recently accepted a position in a neurosurgery-ICU. I have one year of experience on a general floor and am really excited to start! My goal since nursing school has always been CRNA school. Will NSICU experience put me at a disadvantage for that? I’m hoping that after I get some experience here I’ll be able to transfer to either a SICU or CTICU. Is this possible with NSICU experience? Thanks!

    New(ish) Nurse Resume

Another quick question - Can I reuse recommendation letters from professors in my applications? Just because I haven't told anybody at my current place of work that I plan on leaving.

    New(ish) Nurse Resume

That's fair. I just wasn't sure because I feel like my resume looks pretty empty without it. But if it isn't appropriate I wouldn't want my application thrown away for some dumb mistake!

    New(ish) Nurse Resume

I have been at my first nursing job for ~7 months. I'm looking to eventually move on to an area I'm more interested in. I am trying to fix up my resume now that I have some RN experience but I was wondering if I should keep my clinical experiences on my resume?? I have experience as a CNA and RN but those are the only two experiences I have, so I thought leaving my nursing school clinicals with specialty areas on there might help me in the application process? Whether I leave now or in a year I just want to edit everything so I'm good to go when the time comes! Thanks!

    NSO Insurance

Thank you all SO much for the help! I will be getting the NSO insurance then. Its only $45 for this year and the $100 a year afterward are worth it to me. The hospital told all the new grads that they would not protect us if something were to go wrong, so I just want to be safe (although I pray nothing goes wrong!). It also helps to protect in case of a patient attack (again, I hope that never happens!).

    ATI NCLEX Predictor Score

I did about 4 weeks of NCLEX prep. I didn't open a single book and did at least 75 questions a day. I used kaplan so I took tests ranging from 75-265. Doing the longer tests really helps build your testing stamina (I can tell you I could barely get through 160 questions the first time so it definitely takes practice doing those long tests! I finished studying doing about 2300 questions and read all the rationales. I watched a couple of the videos provided and looked at my scores to see what areas needed improvement so I could focus there if I needed! Best of luck!

    NSO Insurance

Hello! I am a new RN and wanted to get insurance just to be 1000% safe. I know a lot of people (the director of my program included) recommended NSO. I get nervous doing things online so I just wanted to make sure NSO.com is legitimate and not a fake/scam website. Is this where anyone got insurance from?

    NCLEX July Test Takers

You can't purchase quick results until 48 hours after your examination. Everyone gets that email around 2 hours after their exam :) And don't worry if you can't purchase exactly 48 hours later, mine didn't say I could purchase quick results until 9am so it was technically an hour late lol. While you're waiting you can keep checking your BON website to see if your license has been made active as sometimes that occurs faster than the quick results!

    failed Nclex

Before taking an exam for licensing in another state also be sure to look up what licensing requirements are in each state. For example, NY requires your nursing education in addition to a child abuse identification and infection control class. You can find these classes on the NY licensing website and can go to in person or online classes but they are paid by the individual.

    NCLEX July 2018

Absolutely! Nobody told me I could do that until I found out myself. It's better to just do things yourself because nobody will work as hard for you! Definitely follow up--and once they know your name things tend to move faster :) Also make sure to pick the earliest day you want but if there aren't any available dates take what you can get! Make sure to click "reschedule" and you can frequently check if any dates open without committing to changing. There's a cancel button on the bottom left and just click that if none of the dates available work for you. I changed my date 3 times and just kept moving it closer until I got the date I wanted!

    NCLEX July Test Takers

I completed all the QT (1-3 are non-passing, so don't go off of these scores). QT 4 - 65 QT 5 - 66 QT 6 - 68 QT 7 - 66 Readiness test - 70 I also completed 17 75 question QBanks. My scores averaged mid to high 60s, and low 70s. I recommend making an Excel spreadsheet and after each exam putting the scores you got for each individual section. I marked anything under a 60 as red, 60s as yellow, and 70 or higher as green. This helped me identify any particular areas that I wasn't as strong in and I did a quick 15 or so tutor style practice questions in that area. I would also say that the NCLEX style is much closer to the readniess test style. It was less wordy, more straight forward and not trying to trick you as much. I thought that kaplan prepared me excellently and the questions were much harder than the actual NCLEX. If you're doing well on kaplan, you'll sit for nclex and find it's significantly easier :)

Contact your school and see if there is an alternate way to send your transcript by yourself via email. I did this and there is a third party my school used to send official transcripts. I put in the BON's email after calling for an update on my ATT. After having it emailed, I followed up once it said it was delivered to make sure they received it. Once they had, I had my ATT the next day. Stay on top of it and definitely take it into your own hands! Something must have happened with my school trying to send transcripts. They either got lost in the mail or something but within 1 day of emailing it, I was all set to register!
  15. Passed in 75 as well! Used kaplan exclusively and would do it again without a thought. The rationales weren't always the best but it gave difficult questions that made nclex feel super easy. The rationales for the QBanks were pretty detailed in my opinion and included videos and content. If I had to redo all my studying I would use Kaplan again exclusively. I personally don't think purchasing a bunch of products would be very helpful and would be a lot of money for ultimately the same outcome. If you read the rationales (especially on QBank questions) you get enough content review in my opinion. If there's any topic you're not confident on, there are usually videos that can quickly review the topic, or you can quickly refresh yourself by reading up on it if necessary.

    NCLEX July Test Takers

Officially passed! Definitely take the day before off to relax and don't overthink the questions. I used kaplan and their questions were definitely more difficult. Once I was reading the actual nclex questions it was straight forward and not as confusing. Kaplan was great to study and I would use it again in a heartbeat.
