Pearson Testi Center Employees

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I took the NCLEX yesterday and, like many, I was an emotional wreck after testing. I took half of my allotted time just to get to 85 questions (computer cut off at 85). Anyway, the testing lady made some comments that have me questioning how much the test center employees really know about your initial pass/fail (on first scoring by computer right after the test). Pearson's website states,"Although the exam is scored as you complete each item, no results are released at the test center. In fact, test center staff do not have access to the exam results." Yet, when I came out the lady said I could be her nurse, while looking at her screen she told the lady in the waiting area who was nervous that I had done "really well" and only had 85 questions. She asked me if nursing was my second career and told me not to worry and be happy. Now, I may be reaching at straws, but how did she know how many questions I had and why would she say I had done really well? I think they know your initial pass/fail, but can't disclose it. Anyone have any thoughts? Admins, if this post is inappropriate, please delete.

The Pearson Vue testing center employees have no idea if particular test-takers passed or failed NCLEX. Rather, they are just being nice and supportive to those who seem emotional after having taken the test. Only your state board of nursing will know if you passed or failed.

By the way, good luck to you! :)

So, she just guessed that I only answered 85 questions in over 2 hours? IDK, but it is only speculation to pass the time.

When I took mine test the second time , and I just got off the test. The lady that screen you palm told me , I got a good feeling about this one. When I came home tricks , and found out I passed.

Pearson Vue administers tests to hundreds of professions, it is not exclusively used for NCLEX. They have no idea of your success or failure based on time and number of questions. Their comments are purely on the hopeful encouragement side.

So, you are saying that they know how many questions you finished the test on, even though the website says they do not have access to the results?

The results are if you passed or failed. They may know the number of questions you had when it shut off, but they don't know if it shut off at 75 and you passed or shut off at 75 and you failed.

Yes.

When I took the PN exam, I did 85 in 90 mins; when I exited the exam, the proctor stated, "Well, that was quick!" So in essence, they knew the amount of questions I did.

Same thing when I did the RN exam; they knew I did the minimum (75) and I did it in about an hour and ten minutes and they knew I got the minimum; no one stated that I passed (I did), but they were very encouraging throughout the whole process; I didn't get the "you passed" speech as you did, lol.

If anything, have heart that you had a wonderful testing experience-they were being supportive to you during a test that can be deemed stressful; take time to relax and celebrate that you completed the exam!

Thank you two for addressing that she knew exactly how many questions I got (I used half the allotted time for just 85 questions, so it was not guessing I got the minimum). So, one can conclude that they know at least that much.

Thank you to everyone who replied to my topic. It is very hard waiting for BON results (for some reason I'd rather see it first on BON instead of Pearson Quick Results) and this was a nice diversion. I also like to see how people respond when confronted with a situation that challenges conventional ideas.
