I am also in lake worth full time and my packet doesn't mention the hesi at all

Maybe the LW full timers dont have to take it

although I admit that sounds weird...

Hey guys,

She sent out an email about the HESI earlier today so that should clear things up. I tried so hard to get out of it lol. I've already taken parts of the HESI just not ALL 10 parts. I've also taken the TEAS and the NLN so another test was something I was trying to get out of. Oh well.

Yeah, maybe it is just LW full time that doesn't have to take it because my packet under "mandatory requirements" only lists CPR cert, drug screen, background check, medical exam, and negative TB tine.

I would check with them if I were you. There are only 5 dates listed in my Part Time Lake Worth packet for the HESI so I would hate for you to miss taking it and not be allowed to start after all that. It would not surprise me at all if they forgot that page in your packet. My Part Time packet has a TON of type-o's and mistakes on information. For example it tells me to sign up for a class on Wednesday nights...but then when you register it is only available for Thursday nights. Then on the medical form it says that this is for an August 2010 start...TRUST ME, the packets are not completely correct. CALL THEM or EMAIL THEM about the HESI...you will be glad you did.

In facet if you go to the PBSC nursing page on the website there is a Nursing Student Handbook that you can download. It is quite the read. It has all of what they sent us plus some more good info. It is over 30 pages I think. Somewhere around page 15 it talks about having to take the HESI before you start so they can get a baseline on where you are and what your strengths and weaknesses are. It also mentions that we have to take the HESI throughout the program at various times between semesters (just like the procalc) and are expected to attain a certain minimum score. Before you graduate you have tot take an exit HESI exam and must pass it with a certain score before you can graduate. Check it out...it is very informative. BUT DEFINITELY make sure you ask about the HESI...don't want to be left behind on an oversight on their part of forgetting to include something in your packet.

that's so weird, they never mentioned anything about any of that before. I would have taken the HESI instead of the NLN if I had known that... they didn't even mention it at the information session or anything. What a pain >.

Yeah. But I don't think

It's the same HESI. It has multiple parts. The one we are taking is an admission assessment HESI as opposed to the pre-admission HESI you would have taken before. And the others that we take as we go along are other parts of he HESI. It's a pain but we've done so much already to get here. I'm taking it on Tuesday if you want to sign up and take it with me.

Unfortunately I have classes from 9am-4pm on Tuesdays at FAU. Could you post the schedule of test dates available and who we contact to sign up? I wish they had told us all of this!!

Everyone should check their emails again because there is an email about the missing page in your packets, you full time lake worthers were missing

sorry to say you guys need it too!

its a pdf file so i cannot post it, but the dates are Nov 9, 15, 29 and dec 2 and 6

all from 9 - 3 I believe.

I wish they would do some things on weekends, i have to keep flying back and forth everytime we have something due.

Does anyone know if the Dec 15th welcome session is manditory? I cannot tell from the packet.

thanks!!

I'm taking the HESI on Tuesday. I hope to meet some of you then :)

Hi everyone! I am enrolled in the PBSC Evening/Weekend RN program and am really excited to start :) Just got internet access at home a couple of days ago but my Mom has been scoping out this site for awhile and stalking prospective study-buddies for me, lol Congrats to everyone who got accepted, the wait was PAINFUL- to put it mildly! I hope to take the HESI on Nov. 29, just sent in my email request. Okay, this may sound a little personal, but some info I thought might be beneficial to share... I went yesterday to do my drug screening and could only produce a small sample of urine in the container (shy bladder maybe). Well, as I had to be at work soon, I told the guy that I would just come back Tuesday on my day off. He informed me that if I left, it would be considered a failing result! I had to sit in the lobby and gulp down cup after cup of water and then wait about 40 mins. until I was able to produce enough to be sent to the lab. It sucked and I was late for work, so whatever you do, allot plenty of time for the test and make sure you are very hydrated and have to go!

Can't wait to meet all of you :nurse:
