PBCC-palm beach comm. college

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of study for the nurse Procalc and the NLN entrance exam for PBCC fall nursing program.

I read on line that this school works on a point system

I was wondering if anyone who has been accepted to the program

(past/Present) student: HOW MANY POINTS DID YOU HAVE TO

WHEN ACCEPTED TO THE PROGRAM.

Anyone with info about the program, would be helpful.

Thanks

Just wanted to throw my congrats to everyone who has made it into Fall 09 for their first semester and those that are on their way! :anpom:I've finally got the registration to work for this site after visiting for so long. I'm a third semester student at LW.

Thanks I'm excited, but nervous too :uhoh3:. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Did anyone get their uniform yet from Copy's? If so, about how much did you end up spending? Also, has anyone bought shoes? I don't know what kind I should get. I know they have to be COMPLETELY white but I'm just curious what everyone else has. Thanks guys!! ;)

i purchased my navy pants and scrub tops from copy's a few days ago. the store is located west of the college, across congress ave. there's a wendy's in the same shopping strip mall. the gal behind the counter asked me which area of study i needed them for, and helped me pick them out. i spent about 130 dollars for 2 mens landau navy pants, 3 mens landau navy tops with the pbcc logo, and 2 name pins. and that was with a 10% student discount. yes, they are pricey... their prices for stethoscopes were easily a third or more than what you would pay if purchased off the net. none of the scrubs had the pbcc logo on them, so i had to leave them behind, to have that done. she mentioned that the girl who usually does the work was on vacation, and that it would take a few weeks to have the name pins and scrubs done.

as for shoes, copy's had the usual assortment of nursing shoes. i didn't check those prices, but i'll bet that the shoes would be pricey as well. there are several threads already out on this site, that dicuss what shoes fit the best and have the most comfort, but, alas, all those opinions are really subjective. it's gonna be hard to make a choice.

I went yesterday and bought two sets of the uniforms. They are all out of size Small woman's tops, but said they should be getting more in sometime in the next couple weeks. My total was $93 with the 10% discount. I ordered my name pin last week it was $6.92 and she said it takes about a week to get them in.

i was thinking about applying for the belle glade program, is anyone currently in the program if so what do you think about it?

the only bad things about belle glade is the drive, (but you get used to it) and that you cannot take the online lecture if you are in the belle glade program. the class is small, the professors are great the get to know you and care about you learning and passing. that said it is not a walk in the park we lost more than a third of the class and i think that lake worth lost about the same. good luck, pm me if you have any specific questions.

Did everyone get registered for classes? I will be starting Semester 1...I am taking lecture online, the afternoon-evening clinicals, and doing skills lab on Saturdays. Anyone else??

I'm starting semester 1 too. I'm taking lecture online (god help me :uhoh21:). Morning clinicals, and lab on wednesdays mornings. I'm also doing pharmacology on wed afternoons. I also registered for the critical thinking class, but I may drop it.

Thanks for the uniform info!!

I registered for online lecture, morning clinicals, and Sat skills lab.

Registered as well, all my classes except for lecture, are in the morning.

I just registered for all morning classes - with the exception of lecture. I won't have to take Pharmacology in the fall though, because I'm already taking it over the summer; and so far I'm doing well so hopefully I won't fail.

I also ordered my uniforms today - the total was about $110 with the student discount. 2 sets of uniforms, 2 pins, 1 stethoscope tag. I think I'll look around more for comfortable shoes.
