Hi everyone,
I'm in the process of study for the nurse Procalc and the NLN entrance exam for PBCC fall nursing program.
I read on line that this school works on a point system
I was wondering if anyone who has been accepted to the program
(past/Present) student: HOW MANY POINTS DID YOU HAVE TO
WHEN ACCEPTED TO THE PROGRAM.
Anyone with info about the program, would be helpful.
Thanks
Wow I wish I had that problem. I like to eat. I'm not that heavy but I could stand to lose 20lbs. I would at least feel healthier. Yes I been sentenced to life already with my husband, 21 years is almost a life sentence. Hope I can make it through the next 2 years while I'm in school and I don't get to ******. LOL
for your books this semester purchase them from this website. just get the ISBN number and Authors name. and a good thing would be look at cover of the book in the book store and make sure the one you order looks the same. this site is so cheap it like 60% less than the bookstore.

I remember you mentioning there was something similar in Broward to Workforce Alliance. I tried googling Workforce Alliance, and that seemed to be an only Palm Beach County thing. Do you know the name of the Broward place that I would contact? Do you have to be a working individual in order to qualify (I'm a stay-at-home-mom so I don't work other than taking care of the kids). Also, I qualify for financial aid.....do you still receive money with financial aid?
Thanks :)
the other scholarships i have application doesnt open up untill december 1st, so it kind of useless at this point. i will post the info when the time comes. but as of right now workforce is your best bet. trust me they will fund your education just be a little patient. within 1-2 weeks all the paperwork will be done and the funds sent to your school.you might have to take a trip down to the office so you can pick up the package and necessary paperwork. get on it...time is ticking.
Hey 2bNurse. First of all I want to say thank you so much for posting the info on workforce alliance. I will forever be greatful for helping me more with financial aid then the school has:) I already have a Bachelors degree and they were not going to help me at all at PBCC. I have an appt scheduled next Tuesday with the lady from Belle Glade. Though its a little far, she is so sweet and understanding about everything. She said they wouldnt cover tuition first semester but the rest they would. Again thank you so much. I have wanted to be in the nursing program since I could remember, it just took me a while to get there. Thanks to you, hopefully my dream will be possible. :bowingpur
congrats on starting the Nursing Program lsmith1983. what campus will you attending? are you super excited and anxious to start?
I got into the Full Time Lake Worth Day Program. I am sooo excited to start, I am just finally thankful that I got in. I tried to get into the nursing program at UCF (practically impossible) so I got my Bachelors in Health Service Administration. Its such a useless degree, and have not been able to find any jobs (I shouldnt have listened to my advisor!) By the time I did internships, I had people in that field tell me to pick another major, it was a little scary. Now I work at pediatrics office and make just as much as a girl that doesnt even have her GED working the front desk. Its very frusturating. The great thing about the PBCC program is that its not GPA heavy. I have a 3.0 but have taken all the classes and then some. I technically only need 42 credit hours to complete the A.S. degree because I have taken all the pharms, anatomys, micro's etc. If you need the book for the NLN I can mail it to you...I think I saw in past posts you havent taken it yet. I also have some other review books if you would like it too. However, from what I hear the info from the PBCC website is more helpful then the book. But its yours if you want it.
Did you talk to Miss Shanti at Belle Glade? She is soo sweet. I will go this weekend to copys...did you get the sweater or the lab coat? I have an appt with Miss Shanti next tuesday. I thought that the textbooks woule be covered for the first semester but not tuition, are they not? You know that you could always do the tuition payment plan at PBCC if you dont have it all upfront. It breaks the tuition down into four payments. Its an option I am looking into.
lsmith1983,If you go to the workforce program try to go to copy's first and get a written estimate for the uniform and things so you can take it with you, I think that might seed up the process of getting your stuff. I went to copy's today and they did this for me and I got fitted for what I need and shoes included. It came to $336.00..... I do not know how I am going to get the books yet pay for tuition, it has to be paid by 12/2...

in palm beach they want you to work even if its 10hrs a week, dont know if its the same in broward. i live in palm beach and not familiar with thier process. in pb even if you get financial aid they will still fund your education the remainder that is left over you will recieve in as a refund check each semester. call this number to get more info. wish you luck.

when you call ask for the department that handles school sponsorship and be sure to tell them you are already accepted in the nursing program.

can you take the exam for me just joking. but that is so sweet of you to offer your book. thank you, hopefully i can score as high as you on the exam:) i live in boynton beach not too far from you. i will email you.
as far as your other degree i know the system is so unfair to students who have a previous degree practically there is no help for those students (but there is workforce being one of them and a couple other places). my friend has the same degree as you she preaches to me all the time how she wasted her time, now her gpa is low because when she was in college she never dreamed of going back. she was promised a entry level job starting at $45k but it never happened. go figure right
your very welcome for the workforce information im just happy to help. sorry you have to go all the way to belle glade, trust me i know the staff can very rude. but do what you have to do lsmith, youll be happy in the end. keep me posted on the progress.

The lady was super nice out in Bellglade. She did say after the first semester everything will be paid for. I just try to scrape whatever I can until I see if I can get more scholarships in December. Thanks for all your support.
