Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of study for the nurse Procalc and the NLN entrance exam for PBCC fall nursing program.

I read on line that this school works on a point system

I was wondering if anyone who has been accepted to the program

(past/Present) student: HOW MANY POINTS DID YOU HAVE TO

WHEN ACCEPTED TO THE PROGRAM.

Anyone with info about the program, would be helpful.

Thanks

Honestly it all depends on your clinical instructor. My professor now says we can wear long sleeves in white or navy. But Professor ******** says no way and she is one of first semesters main professors.

Specializes in CVICU, CCU, MICU.

Has anyone received any update on the background check requirement due Dec 15?

Working on my spreadsheet for the price of the nursing books and its quickly approaching $800. :angthts: This is making me dizzy even though I applied for student loan. I don't know if they would prefer students to get new books, otherwise I would rent them.

Senior nursing students, what do you think? (new or used). Also what nutrition book did you guys buy?

FoodieJ, I also got that email. Oh boy?

So for me.....I got the bundle new (fundamentals, the workbook, the lab book and mynursinglab) and glad I did cause I highlight and write in the both the book.....plus there is so much info in the books i'm probably going to keep them until school is over.

I also bought the ackley book new. I use it a decent amount and will use it through all 4 semesters, but if you can find it used pick it up that way.

I bought taber's and haven't touched it, but it is important.

I used an old nutrition book.....and honestly haven't cracked it. It was from my nutrition class a few semesters back.

I also had an older drug book.....you can have a used one as long as it is within 2 yrs, i think. You could also rent this one but will end up renting one every semester. And will want to have one of you're own eventually.

As far as, Fluid and Electrolytes made easy, I checked it out from the library. I haven't used it yet but will on this upcoming test.

I don't know if they are making you guys get the online case studies.

All in all, I think I spent 600 or less on books.

ginmarada, thanks for your detailed response, i will definitely get the bundle and follow the same path that you took in order to save.. it's really good to have guidance from my seniors. i really appreciate the information you provided.:bowingpur

i thought it was mandatory to get pharm. out of the way within the first semester, i had no idea that it could be done during the summer. i am currently reading the pharm book to somewhat get prepared and prevent myself from getting overwhelmed. it's really good to know about this option just in case.

if you haven't taken pharm yet, then yes, it is mandatory to take first semester. however, if you fail, you have summer to retake it and continue onto 2nd semester in the fall.

Hello all. I haven't posted in so long but was thinking about all the new students coming in. Congrats to all that made it! Those who didn't...hang in there. Boost your points and try again. I volunteered at a local hospital which earned me 1 extra point which can make all the difference. So hard for me to believe that I am going into 4th semester. It's been a long road but really once you're in it goes by quickly. They definitely keep you busy.

It breaks your heart when you don't get in but stay busy and before you know it, it will be time to reapply.

jentrbo, i was lurking in this room some years ago and watched when you began your journey. it's good to see you are almost done and it's amazing how time can fly so quickly, you must be really happy!

dreamgirl87, you can go to the math lab for help, there are specific dates when they hold sessions to teach procalc, just give them a call to see when they will have the next class..... oh, i don't know anything about the teas?

Specializes in Pediatrics.

I thought PBCC had sample tests for Pro Calc on the nursing website? I'd call or visit the skills lab as there is a procalc book that they use to help students study (1 on 1). As for books, try looking at craigslist, ebay, half.com and other similar sites-that's where I got my books. I graduated PBCC 2 years ago and I still use all of my books from the program.

hello everyone,

I don't remember if I asked this before, but here is another shot, Is anyone in need of a roommate or does anyone know of anyone that needs a roommate or Is anyone thinking of moving to Palm Beach and need a roommate? Thank you in advance!
