how are you paying for nursing school? or how do you plan to pay for nursing school?

CHASE bank has a great student loan- up to 20,000 per year for any type of expenses, not just tuition. I took out two of them during my course of study.

I'm paying cash...thanks to an AWESOME grandma..............

I am very very blessed this year (my last year in ADN program!)

I have to say apply for everything

My nursing education this year is being paid (basically in full) three ways, which is great cause it covers my living expenses to!

1. I applied for a pell grant (applied my first semester of college and didn't get anything, but applied this semester and covers all my tuition and books + !)

2. A local scholarship

3. I work at a hospital and have agreed to work for them 1.5 years and they give me 2000 each semester (and it is one of the best hospitals in the area, so why wouldn't I agree to work there :)

I am so excited, because this is the first time I have not had to worry about paying for the cost of school (sorta makes up for all those hard times )

I am paying with good ol' cash! My hubby and I have moved in with my parents and right now we both work. I am still taking pre-reqs but will be done this semester. I am probably going to take patho online next semester and pharm in the summer but they aren't required.

Once I start actual NS then I am going to quit my job. We are saving cash right now and that should pay for my tuition and help with books and stuff. I will only be taking 10 hours per semester since I already have all the other classes, so my tuition really isn't much at all, like around $550 a semester and my school has a payment plan that lets you pay that out over the semester.

I have loans from going to a University for a degree before I decided on nursing and I currently owe around $24,000 so I don't want to add anything more to that!

I am a cna, am soon gonna be trained for med. tech. , what other certificate could I get maybe online that would help me to move up a little more. I work in an assisted living, so far I am a reg. cna and qualified activity director.

I was an auto worker, lost my job to the economy, dislocated workers paid for mine all the way down to my socks literally, uniforms, books and I got unemployment the entire year and then some. There are programs out there just have to do the search for them.

Paying cash here, as well. I just paid off (in '07) my student loans from my Bachelor's Degree (earned in '97--they give you 10 years). That was over $25,000!

That's a really great deal- perfect example of one window closing, and another one opening. Were those benefits from your employer or a union?

Florida offers a great program for highschoolers that I am currently using. It is called Bright Futures. They pay 100% of my tuition through my bachelors, plus $200 a semester for books (one book anyways :D). I also have a nursing scholarship from my school for $700 a semester to use for whatever I need. I usually end up with a little money left over in the end. I would reccomend talking to the financial aid office at your school. My college has a large fund that they portion scholarships out of each year. Start working on it now, most are due between now and April!

I'm surprised you would qualify for federal funds, since you are receiving money through a local hospital and from a scholarship. I'm surprised you did not have to disclose that on your FAFSA.

Cold, hard cash and a part time job.

I am lucky enough to work for a local hospital that offers a $10,000 scholarship program and we also have tuition assistance/promissory note. Just found out a couple of days ago. I sign my contract to commit to work for them for 1 year. :bowingpur
