Pay rate for new LPN grads

Published

Heyyyy how's everyone doing? Question: I finally found a company I have started the hiring process and I wanted to know what should I ask for as far as pay rate since I'm a new graduate? Is $24/hr. Too much to ask for? I live in New Jersey.

Specializes in Mental Health, OB/GYN.

I am a new grad from MA. I finally accepted a position at a LTC after turning down a few other positions. Their base rate is $22.00 for new grads. My pay rate will be $23.50 for working 3-11 shift, $3.00 for the weekend differential.

I know in NY, many facilities will pay $24/hr for a new grad LPN. Once you have about a year experience, it goes up to $25. That's what Towne Nursing pays - Towne Nursing. Even though you live in NJ you might want to check that out.

Good luck!

Thank you all 😃

$17.50-$22 over here in the Berkshires, Ma area. It depends on where you work. Plus, some places do look at experience in the health field like CNA or medical assistant experience. They'll take that into consideration.

East Texas pays 13.00 to 18.00 for new grads. Private duty is 18.00 to 22.00 with 10.00 per hour orientation.

It's nice that you know new grad LPNs that started at $23 an hour. Be thankful that you aren't in an area that is offering new grad LPN/LVNs $14 or $15 an hour and getting plenty of takers at those rates. As stated before, it is an employer's market.

Does anyone know how much an LPN can make in an Gastroenterology center in Atl Ga? I have 2 years as a tech in a Gastroenterology center and I need to let them know how much an hour I am looking for. I am new to Ga and don't know LPN pay rates here. I am also a licensed with no LPN experience. Thanks for any info

Oh MF....are you kidding? I am not putting myself through all this hell with school to make the same money! As a night shift CNA I already make almost $14 an hour! Craaaaaappppp.

Question, what can a LVN student currently do while in school (network?) to get into wound care as a new grad? I am learning about wound care/healing and LOVE it. I would like to work in that unit.

Specializes in critical care.

Is pay there generally higher than the average? These rates are bumming me out. $22-25 is a normal amount for RNs in the midatlantic, DC metro area for new grads. (BSN, at that.) Not saying LPNs don't earn every penny, mind you! Just saying surely that extra time in school means something in terms of pay???

Also depends on the facility. But most of the new grads I know just started at $23/hr.
