Patients safety attendant sitter

Published

I have a question. I am going to start a new job of patient safety attendant sitter in a hospital and I would like to know what they do or your experience of this job. I'm nervous because it will be my first time working with patient and hospital.

when working in the float nursing team. when you get to the hospital for your job where do you go first after clocking in for patient safety attendant/ sitter?

This is employer specific. We cannot answer this for you. There are many red flags here. You should have been given all this information from your prospective employer. With the exception of where to check in as that would likely be addressed at orientation

I would write all of these questions down and ask your supervisor.

like i said my orientation wont be till one month from now. But i would like to know as much as possible.

Then you need to contact the employer. They are the ones with the answers about your specific job. How it's done at my facility or any other poster's facility is not necessarily going to be the same. Why come here for information that may not be anywhere near the case for you when you should go straight to the source?

You are asking questions no one that doesn't work at your facility can answer. Write down your questions and ask next month at orientation.

Those kinds of questions are employer specific. At the hospital I worked at, sitters checked in in the nursing supervisor's office and she sent them to the floor they were assigned to.

It really depends on the patient. When I was a tech I'd sometimes be a sitter. If they were sedated it wasn't a big deal. I'd watch what was on the tv and do my charting. If it was a wild patient you may get tired of reminding them who, what, when, where and to get back in the bed. Sometimes you'll have some interesting stories, though.

A patient I sat with gave me a leprechaun.

I have yet to see the thing though.

Lol, your leprechaun story gave me the giggles.

You are also asking facility very specific questions we cannot answer such as where to report after clocking in &'hanging up your quote. Your general questions have been answered.

No one has been rude - just because we don't know how your facility works and therefore can't give detailed answers does not make those people "rude."

I certainly hope you aren't posting under your real name or this thread could come back to haunt you.
