I hate a 20 something female pt say how "yummy" I smelled and tried to get her sister to come smell me. She also said she wanted to take me out after all this. her sister had to remind her that her husband might not approve lol.

A lecture on pheromones' role in human attraction might have been boring enough to change her mind!

I got hit on by a patient's brother a couple weeks ago. He told me I looked like Kat Dennings. Um...I wish lol. Google Image Result for http://i.usatoday.net/life/_photos/2011/10/04/Few-good-tidings-for-this-TV-season-so-far-J7ENPF6-x-large.jpg

Anyhow his sister was 51 and I was 29 at the time so assuming the brother was around her age. Maybe if he was cute, my age, and didn't smell like a goat.

I had an older confused gentlemen grab a hold of my arm, call me his wifes name and tried pulling me into his bed. I kept telling him I was his nurse and to let go but he insisted I was his wife and had a good hold on me. I didn't want to yell for help as to not frighten him but I was a bit scared. He was strong and I couldn't get away. Thankfully someone walked by when I got their attention and they helped free me. Just a few nights ago I had a psych patient who when I went to flush his IV told me I needed to kiss him goodnight. And I have had many guys tell me I look nice, smell nice, too pretty to be a nurse, etc. Yeah, yeah, whatever. It IS creepy, regardless who the person is.

you could at least have told him that you are not interested. I know that, when I find a woman interested, i´ll do anything to find her. I will ask my friends, try to find her online etc. Havn´t you ever been interested in a guy where you have done everything to find him? The worst thing that can happen is that you would get a rejection. No big deal, but at least you gave it a try.

I dont know how many times I have got a good connection with girls and then forgot to ask them for their phone numbers.

You act as though she was at the grocery store! :) It's completely uncomfortable and awkward when this happens at work, considering they are half dressed men who should have enough sense and respect not to ask their nurse for a date. Hopefully she had already assisted with foley care prior to the advances!

I always make up a husband and if they question why I don't wear a ring, I say because it gets dirty. Nothing like a lying nurse!

Yes, I get hit on often enough by patients The worst/most uncomfortable was when it was one of the pt' (prioner) guards. Now there was a whole audience in the room the pt, the guard and the other guard. ...... The look of suprise on the prisioner's face made me lol.

I have often been told I look like Mary Louise Parker (star of Weeds & Fried Green Tomatoes). While I find this flattering I always feel a little awkward b/c if you Google image search her name, half of the pictures are nude, lol!

I had a patient who gave me a bouquet of roses for my birthday. I had no idea who his source was. It was both flattering and creepy at the same time.

I have always found these "encounters" disturbing. I even considered one assault. An aged post-op male tried to pull me into his bed. I was shocked and scared since I was responsible for his care. I reported this to my supervisor and was told that I should be able to handle it! After that one shift I never took care of him again.

I did tell him it was against hospital policy for nurses not to date or have any outside contact with pt's. I thought that would have been enough. I guess some people need to blatently have their feelings hurt, which is what I was trying to avoid, to get the hint.

I'm still a student nurse but last year during my med-surg clinical rotation I got to spend some time in the PACU. The patient I was helping with was one I accompanied directly from the OR who was in a significant amount of pain (he'd just had a LARGE pilonidal cyst removed). At one point as the nurse was getting his pain med, I was helping him to stay calm and he reached out and took my hand. I didn't mind and reassured him that the medication was coming. He stated how pretty I was and said he'd love to take me out some time. I smiled and told him my husband wouldn't like that very much (and was thinking "neither would your girlfriend - and you're 50!"). He said "oh I can take him" and kept going on about how nice and pretty I was. The senior nurse just laughed and said "that's the Versed talking". Definitely won't forget my first time in the PACU!

I have known plenty of nurses who dated patients, myself included. And at least 2 who married a patient! But for the most part, it is either sweet or creepy, depending on the situation.

Some men will hit on any female within shouting distance, and some have dementia issues and mistake you for their wife. Most can be dealt with humor, or at least kindness - 'I don't think my husband would approve'. If a pt continues to make unwanted advances, notify your supervisor, and maybe administration. Find a same-sex nurse to care for this patient when possible.

If it is truly a disturbing problem, get hospital security involved.

This has been an issue since the Crimean War, believe me, and will go on forever.

I also once became very close to a woman of my own age, and stayed friends with for a year or two, then I moved away, and lost touch. This was before the 'cyber-age'.

My mother started hitting on her doctor when she came out of surgery. She told him he was gorgeous (which he was lol) and that they were going to adopt babies together lmao. My grandmother and I were dying. She's not ever like that so we chalked it up to surgery meds.
