So I graduated PN school here in New York in 2007 when I turned 19. I was told to take my NCLEX asap because everything stays fresh in your mind. I didn't, I put it off. I had a good job so I thought "I'll take it soon"...2 months turned to 6...6 months turned to a year...and so on. In the beginning of this year (2009) I decided I wanted to take it...then I started reading all the horror stories online and I became scared. I took a refresher course in July and thought OMG I forgot about all this stuff I don't know anything!!!(more scared) In September I bought the Saunders review book...been studying ever since. I took the test 2 days ago, it shut off at 85 questions I THOUGHT I DEFINITELY FAILED. I paid the $7.95 for the quick results today and...I PASSED...I could not believe it...I passed on my FIRST TRY being out of school for 2 years!!! If I did it, anyone can!!! I really hope this helps, a post like this would've helped me. Please e-mail me if you need any tips

I've also been out of school for 2 years but took the nclex-pn and failed twice:banghead:.. I also have a good job working noc shifts that pays well.
I'm curious to know how long did you study each day from Saunders or basically what was your study plan?
Your experience is amazing, maybe you did well in school, have great study/test taking skills or you're able to conquer test anxiety. NCLEX is so overwhelming nowadays.:grn:
Please tell me how you prepared for the exam. I noticed so far 2 ppl here took them 2 years till they pass their exam and after reading yours I felt that i should just take it already and focus on delegation/prioritization..I think imma get that LaCharity book but iono if its good for LVN/LPNs...*shurgs
Again congrats!

congratualtions...my story is very similiar to yours as far as being out of school 2+ years..i plan to take the nclex pn in the beginning of the year..im curious in regards to how many hours you may have studied each day..
Yea the test has ALOT of delegation and prioritization...I studied for about 2-4 hours on the weekdays. I gave myself a break on the weekends. The Saunder's review book comes with a CDROM that has NCLEX style questions on it. There is an assessment quiz that gives you a "print out" study guide on what chapters to read from the book (2 chapters a day). If you go by the Saunder's study guide, it takes about 6 weeks to finish. Reading 2 chapters everyday and doing the questions at the end is good. If you dont have enough time to do the 6 weeks do 200 questions a day with the rationals
