Passed my NCLEX PN but still waiting to be active on the BON

Published

I am excited and nervous at the same time! I got my ATT back in June after a lot of foot work to provide the board with all of the documentation required because I had to answer yes on a couple of personal data questions. It took almost three weeks but I finally got my ATT. I took my NCLEX on the August 14th and checked my quick results 48 hours later and I passed. But I am still pending in the system... I am hoping to get some advice from others who have maybe been through this same thing. They wouldn't have let me test if they weren't going to issue my license right?

Is there any reason you can think of why they wouldn't license you?

I have some stuff on my criminal record, but provided all of the certified court documents with my registration. I thought there was a chance that they were going to say no, but then I got my ATT so I figured they would issue my license. Why would I be allowed to take my NCLEX if they weren't going to issue my license? I am wondering how long it normally takes to be active on the BON after you get your quick results.

It was super-fast (within a few days) for me. It probably varies from state to state, though (I went through Texas). Have you tried contacting them?

Yes I have tried calling and they said it is in the background check stage still. Have you ever heard of anyone passing their NCLEX and then being denied a license?

I don't know much about it, to be honest. If the background check is still in progress, I would imagine that things could go either way. This might be a good section of the site to browse:

You might find someone with similar circumstances.

Good luck to you.

Edit: I just searched the site for "denied license after passing NCLEX". Apparently, it does happen.

Yes. The background check was pending as the ATT was issued. Candidate passed the NCLEX but was denied licensing because of the recency of criminal charges including a DUI that caused injury to another person.

I got denied... I am so devestated... But I will be having a hearing and mat be able to get my license still with probation and monitoring.

I'm very sorry to hear that. If getting a lawyer is a possibility, it looks like that has helped people facing similar circumstances.

Update:

I submitted more documentation and was granted my credential after the initial denial. I was accepted into the WHPS program and am now practicing as an LPN.

Good for you. I am glad the BON granted you a second chance. We all have done something wrong in the past, some just got busted and others got away. Just like some presidential candidates ready to lock up youngings for smoking pot while admitting they smoked pot in the past just never got busted.

Hello, I had a question because I was in a similar situation. I also had a past DUI in which I got dismissed a year ago. The dui was from 2017. I applied and immediately got my ATT without them asking me anything about the conviction. Before they gave you an ATT they asked for you to send them information? I just took my NCLEX and just found out I passed but now im worrying about actually receiving my license . Best of look to you.
