has anyone applied to pasadena's rn program for fall 2013? has anyone been accepted into east pasadena's rn program? if so what was your pre-reqs grades? mines aren't all that great that's why i am so worried i will not get in because my pre-reqs gpa is only 2.79...do i even have a chance at getting in? please advise...so stressed out im not a bad student... i just don't have the time to study like im supposed to...i am a working full time single mother with two children and couldn't dedicate my time to so much studying...i was lucky if i even got 10 hours of studying a week
Thank you!!! I'm excited but scared because now I have to take the TEAS! Lol.
You're going to do great on the TEAS! If you're scoring an 83% in science on practice exams...you're definitely going to pass! How are you with math? The math I found there to be a lot of rate problems, so I would say refresh on that. (ex: if Bill paints one wall in 5 hours and Nancy paints one wall in 10 hours, how many hours will it take them to paint one wall if they work together?)
One mnemonic I made up to help me on the TEAS to remember the order of electromagnetic waves is, " Great Xylophones Unite Very Impaired Musical Rejects" ( Gamma rays, X-Rays, Ultraviolet, Visible, Infrared, Microwave, Radiowave)...just in case it might come in handy;)
Congratulations, Jeli42!
And for folks who are concerned about BSN applications after completing an ADN at a non_NLNAC school: guys, every community college in CA has an articulation agreement with the CSUs. If you do not plan to continue onto a BSN or if your BSN plans definitely do NOT include a CSU, then you may be correct to be worried about the NLNAC accreditation. Otherwise it really doesn't seem to make much difference. (My $.02)

Spoke with Azusa Pacific regarding this (private school) and I believe it's the WASC accreditation that matters. But everyone should definitely check with the program they are interested in.
Thanks everyone!!
rebeccles: I couldn't PM you since I don't have enough posts, but I'd like an invite to the FB group, are you making it public so people can join as they please?
Regarding NLNAC acc. it looks like PCC had been acc. since 1970s according to this
http://books.google.com/books?id=PKGun5IqT9EC&lpg=PA19&ots=YEi0YVKNc4&dq=pasadena%20city%20college%20nlnac&pg=PA19#v=onepage&q=pasadena%20city%20college%20nlnac&f=false
They probably realized it was too costly to fly out nlnac visitors and pay them 10k a year for membership. I got that figure from LA harbor's operating cost budget proposal, you can find it on google. They probably think its more worthwhile to invest that in better equipment and labs etc.
I saw a job posting for the Vet Affairs which requires NLNAC/CCNE which gave me some worries but it passed when I realized I wouldn't be stopping at ASN level. (I volunteered in their ED, its really depressing)
Also, will this thread be dedicated to PCC or should we create a new one
I'm so happy for you!! Were you an alternate at Rio Hondo? And did u have an alternate number?
Thank you!! No I wasn't an alternate. I don't think they do that like other schools do. In the beginning they just said I didn't make it but am very close. They told me to check back in case people reject or don't pass the test. I figured if I got in they would call so I didn't harass them even though they told me to! Lol. Guess someone got an acceptance somewhere else and declined Rio :) you might want to call to see if you are close! If you are, you still have hope!!

Sorry! I knew someone would get tired of other schools posts. Lol. I will stop posting on this one :)
Just got my rejection email from PCC...alls good...pretty sad and bummed out but I'm keeping my faith strong because I know God has a better plan for me...this is my third rejection, 4 more to go
Same here. It's my 4 rejection. and I have only one school left. To be honest I don't think it is gonna happen to me this year.
