It must be exciting times for you! I've also considered attending WCU's Anaheim campus and really loved their program. Are you going in with any credits transferred? I was able to bring down the tuition down to about $86,000 after transferring the GEs. I know WCU is very expensive but I also understand that some people can't afford to go the traditional route for numerous reasons. Were you able to get your schedule yet?

Poster, Please reconsider your options. I was in the same position as you were and felt like WCU was my only option since my undergraduate GPA wasn’t competitive and I didn’t have any experience to back me up. I was SO close to signing up and even went through the entire application process, but they were unwilling to transfer over a couple of courses which I thought was unfair since I graduated from a UC (apparently if you attended a school that went by a quarter system, your classes will not transfer over since they are shy by ~0.2 units). At the end of the day, I was able to bring my tuition rates down to $86,000 but only if I spend another semester at a community college taking prereqs. (PLEASE FINISH YOUR PREREQS AT A COMMUNITY COLLEGE BEFORE YOU ENTER WCU) So during the semester while finishing up my prereqs, I figured that I had nothing to lose trying to apply to different programs out there. I ended up applying to Pasadena City College, East LA college, and a nearby community college where I live in OC. I also applied to National U., West Governors U (a school I wouldn’t recommend if you’re pushing towards CRNA), and even United States U which I dropped early on. Thank God that I did apply because I got into 2 of the 3 community colleges (still unheard from ELAC). Pasadena City College goes by lottery so everyone has a fair chance. Now, I will attend community college for two years paying close to nothing and one year at CSU for my BSN. While WCU offered me a BSN in 2 years (I had most GE’s covered), I would rather spend an extra year in school and save me tens of thousands of dollars. WCU is NOT your only option. While they have a good program, I believe that it may not be for everyone. Oh, CRNA schools are just as expensive, unless you go public like CSUF. But can you get straight A’s from a program that accelerated (10 week courses)?

I think you misunderstood me or maybe I should've been more clear. I went to a UC as an undergrad then attended (several) community college for my nursing prereqs. Trust me on this, there is a difference when it comes to policies on cheating. And in no way was I comparing an ADN program to a BSN program. I'm in an ADN program myself. My point of saying that was not to downplay community colleges but to tell the OP that the situation could've been worse.

I know that community colleges are a bit more lenient towards cheaters, most universities are not. The fact that you still got a B in the course is my proof because my school would have automatically failed you and put you on probation. That being said you should be hopeful that you still got somewhat of a decent grade in A&P. You made a mistake despite the fact you were hurting, and unfortunately will have to face the consequences. Even a person who steals for his starving family will face consequences if caught. NOW... It's time to think what you can do from here. You probably won't get much sympathy from here (AN) because most if not all of us dislike people who cheats especially in nursing because everyone has to work so hard. So my advice would be this: 1) don't cheat ever again. In fact, be Anti-cheating. Hate it. Cheating will only make you weaker. Even successful people fail only to succeed again. 2) talk to your dean and build a relationship. Your dean knows how to deal with cheaters and if he/she is a good dean, will help bring your potentials out so you wouldn't make choices like the ones you've made. 3) Now that you have a record you need to show people that the record doesn't define you. Reach out to your community. Do stuff outside your school to show others that you care about nursing. I don't want to list every thing for you but think about it... Many people just study hard to show schools that they're serious about nursing but not everyone actually puts themselves out there. Obtain something others won't have like experience, wisdom, and a genuine caring heart for those who are sick. Good luck.

Yes! I bought two sets of uniform from Dove and it came out to be almost $200! And our school scrubs are also white which worries me because I have the same problem as you do! I'll probably have coffee stains on the first week. :) I know PCC's nursing building is off campus but from the pictures the facility seems really nice. kind of jealous.

Really? I know that a lot of (good) schools purposely choose not to get the NLN because they would rather use the money elsewhere. Look at Pasadena City College they have a wonderful program but chooses not to be NLN accredited. I think you'll be fine if you goto a fully accredited RN to BSN program! But if you want assurance you should call the BSN school's counselor and ask for some sound advice if its worth prolonging graduation because of NLN. :)

Yeah ELAC is based on lottery so a 4.0 student will have an equal chance as a 2.5 student. And I was hoping they would contact us sooner but apparently the applications were for spring and not fall semester. Good luck everyone :)
