Hello everyone!
I created this thread for those who are interested or applying to the residency program at Parkland for the summer 2020. I'm hoping this thread is helpful for those wanting to talk and ask questions. Good luck to everyone!

I was really hoping we would hear back about interviews soon. I received an offer for another hospital today and I only have 24 hours to accept. Obviously I don't want to turn down an offer, but I was holding out hope for Parkland.

Oh man that’s a hard decision!! CONGRATS on the offer though!! Is the other job for NICU? What do you love about Parkland?

You can email and ask for more time! most of the time they say yes to giving you some more time. Also I know a lot of new grads will accept a job and still go on interviews and later take a different job. A hiring manager told me that happens all the time and it's okay to do that because you gotta look out for you

Thanks! It is for a NICU but it is a hospital outside of Texas. I honestly don't know a ton about the NICU specifically at Parkland, but I know they have a great reputation for developing and training nurses, especially in critical care. I had an application out for the critical care & trauma internship at Parkland as well, but I don't think I was selected to interview. They reached out to me last week regarding a question about my application and said they were reviewing it, but did not contact me again and I know they are already in the process of interviewing.

Hmm maybe I can try. I just know when I interviewed the hiring manager told me that I would have a small window to accept or decline the offer so they can get back to candidates as quickly as possible.

Yeah maybe you could take the job and then back out if you need to... I know Parkland is competitive and IDK how many they are taking. I would Personally probably be nervous to turn down an offer for Parkland...maybe you could even transfer to Parkland’s NICU in the future if you didn’t get this residency!CONGRATS on the NICU offer! That’s amazing!

Yeah I will likely accept the offer. I know how competitive it is to get a job in DFW which is why I started looking elsewhere. I've been applying since the last round of residencies. Thanks! It feels good to finally have an offer somewhere.

Medical City is offering those who accepted positions at their hospital to start a nurse extern position in April due to the need for support staff. I wonder if Parkland will be doing something similar.
My NICU fellow app status is the same as it has been for a couple weeks ("reviewing all apps") but the date changed to today. Anyone know what that means? My withdraw button is still present when I open the app but I cant edit anything.
Also it is still not highlighted in red..

Has anyone gotten any more information since accepting an offer? I accepted a position for the ER in February.

I think that is a good thing for you. Not trying to be a negative nancy for many of us that have reviewing in red, but I know someone who had statuses in red, and she did not get an interview. I am kind of thinking red means "alternate" list. I don't know for sure, but we will find out soon enough.
