    Emory D-ABSN Fall 2018

I didn't really. I was just prepared to express why I wanted to be a nurse/was interested in Emory but to be honest they didn't even ask me those questions. It was more going over what pre-reqs I had left to complete if any, and a chance to ask questions about the program. It was a very casual interview.

    Emory ABSN Fall 2018

Don't quote me on this, but I believe they said within 100 miles or so of Atlanta. I know they said they don't want to place any student more than an hour away from where they live, as they don't want long commutes after long shifts, and they want to reserve Atlanta/surrounding clinical placements for their on campus programs. The best way to know for sure if you live too close for the DABSN would be to reach out to them via email. They always respond to questions within a few days, so they would be able to give you the most accurate information.

    PORTAGE - QUESTIONS

I took four courses on Portage and you are correct. They only offer A, B, C, etc. They do not grade on a +/- system, so your 89 would be a B. Portage tests are not open book, unless they are lab exams in a course like chemistry. For those you are allowed to use notes.

    Emory D-ABSN Fall 2018

Good luck to you on your TEAS! I submitted my application 3/1 and all transcripts were in by 3/17. I received an interview invitation on 4/19. I think the process may be a little quicker now that they are actively reviewing applications because when I first submitted they hadn't begun that process.

    Emory D-ABSN Fall 2018

I'm not sure exactly of my GPA. I'm guessing it's somewhere right around a 3.2 or 3.3. I had around a 3.0 prior to my pre-reqs, but I received all A's in those. I already had my CNA certificate complete. I submitted my GRE scores: 155 V, 156 Q, 4.5 AW. I also feel I really expressed my career goals well/explained why I was interested in Emory in my personal statement.

    Emory D-ABSN Fall 2018

Nice! Sounds like we'll probably be classmates then! I'm currently living in the Chicago area, but will likely be moving to the Dallas, TX area before the clinical portion of the program begins. What about you?

    Emory D-ABSN Fall 2018

I had my interview today as well. They said they would try and get notices of acceptance out ASAP, but made it seem like I didn't have to worry too much about getting in. The interview was more informative than anything for me.

No one else out there applying? I'm still waiting to hear back and it would calm my nerves a little speaking to someone else going through this process!

    Emory D-ABSN Fall 2018

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for anyone applying to Emory's DABSN program for this upcoming September. I figured it would be a good way to connect with potential classmates and update each other as we go through the application process. I submitted all application materials a few weeks ago and am waiting to hear back if I received an interview. Has anyone had their application reviewed yet?

    Duke ABSN Spring 2019

Hello! I'm planning on applying although I'm waiting on acceptance for another program for fall 2018 and I'll do that if I get in. I graduated in June 2017 with a BA in economics. They had a webinar last night for the program and said they look at your overall GPA so I think mine is somewhere around a 3.1 but like you I have a 4.0 in pre-reqs. They said the process is pretty holistic so having professional experience might be helpful. I believe they also said you can email the SON admissions if you had something extra you wanted them to consider in your app.

    Portage Learning

I've taken four classes through Portage: general psych, developmental psych, chemistry, and nutrition. I found the experience to be pretty good overall. The material is very clear and the tests are pretty straightforward. If I had anymore pre-reqs to complete I would definitely use portage again! The classes are also pretty cheap and you can complete them as fast as you like. The only limit is you cannot do more than one exam per day (labs for chem you can do more than one per day).

    Portage Learning

@Jyoti the exams on Portage for psychology are a mix. Some questions are true/false, some are multiple choice, some fill in the blank, and some are short answer/essay. It's that way for both general psychology and developmental psychology.
