Hello. I wanted to make this space for those of us who will be new grads and have applied or will apply for the Parkland residency July 2023 cohort. I have applied and received an interview date (super excited!). Hopefully we can all connect and support each other here!

Congrats. When did you have your interview and offer?

We are supposed to be getting an update this month. However, the official contract won't be until 1-2 months before July (May or June).
In the meantime, we have FB group! We keep each other in the loop there, too.
There are two approved ways to create a special place for your cohort.
One: create a facebook page. This link may be posted.
Two: Premium members may create a "club" by clicking on the Breakroom link in the yellow bar to the left of this page. Then click on "Create A New Club" in the green bar at the top of the page, and follow instructions.
References to other than these two avenues will be moved from view, to comply with the Terms of Service.
Thank you.
Asking for a friend.
Why do some people who apply for ICU residencies don't get interviewed. Is it because of BSN>ADN or resume? My friend who works at Parkland applied to MICU and Neuro ICU and did not even get a chance to interview. He has only had 2 interviews and 1 offer. He applied for all residencies on January 27. He said the HR/recruiter said all ICU's were full/closed, but it's weird that they didn't interview him (being an employee and applying fairly early in January), whereas other units make sure to interview all applicants before they make decisions.
@seldem There could a variety of reasons why someone may not receive an interview. Having an ADN vs. BSN vs. MSN could play a role in it. In theory, BSN or MSN-prepared nurses have more training and a larger scope of practice versus their ADN counterparts. Hospitals also tend to lean towards hiring more MSN/BSN nurses to maintain their Magnet status. In large cities like Dallas, the competition can be more fierce, enabling large hospitals systems to be more selective on who they choose to hire.
This is just my take on it. I'm sorry that your friend wasn't able to get an interview. Some of the best nurses I've met during my clinical rotations in the ICU were ADN-prepared nurses. If your friend works at Parkland, maybe he could secure another RN role there, and work his/her way into the ICU?
