  1. @seldem There could a variety of reasons why someone may not receive an interview. Having an ADN vs. BSN vs. MSN could play a role in it. In theory, BSN or MSN-prepared nurses have more training and a larger scope of practice versus their ADN counterparts. Hospitals also tend to lean towards hiring more MSN/BSN nurses to maintain their Magnet status. In large cities like Dallas, the competition can be more fierce, enabling large hospitals systems to be more selective on who they choose to hire. This is just my take on it. I'm sorry that your friend wasn't able to get an interview. Some of the best nurses I've met during my clinical rotations in the ICU were ADN-prepared nurses. If your friend works at Parkland, maybe he could secure another RN role there, and work his/her way into the ICU?
  2. @bb1234_. Congratulations!! Where are you doing your residency at?
  3. LOL the wait is so anxiety-inducing. I'm finding myself checking my email several times a day. ?
  4. @David8380 Yes, you can get multiple offers from other units. It is also common practice and acceptable to accept a job offer and later retract it if you find another opportunity. As long as the offer isn't contract binding, you can just be professional about it. They'll just move on to the next candidate down the list.
  5. @kaitc I feel like it depends on which of the three applications you applied for. They didn't ask me which location because I applied for the specialty application. It was already assumed I would want to work at their main hospital. I also don't think they have an ICU outside of their William P. Clement Jr.'s University Hospital location.
  6. @lexviak I stated my preference for Cardiac or Neuro ICU, but am open to any of the five ICU specialities. Yes they do ask you to specify. Good luck!
  7. @lexviak Yup! It's a 5-panel interview with all of the managers interviewing you at once. They ask a combination of behavioral and situational questions. I thought that the questions were all very fair. Which ICU are you hoping for and when do you interview? Good luck!
  8. Just had my interview this morning. My best piece of advice is to really be yourself and have an organic conversation. I came in way over-prepared, and had an envisioned way of how things were going to go, and nothing went as planned LOL. The ICU managers were very encouraging and personable, definitely leaders I'd love to work for.
  9. @Elsa98 I am not sure about the international student process, but when I was helping a classmate look for H1B sponsorships in Dallas, we could not find any unfortunately.
  10. Good luck everyone! I have mine scheduled for ICU on March 7 in the morning.
  11. @dj_gn Congrats! I'm excited for you!
  12. @cyd_elise It took over a month for them to contact me after I sent in my application, and official offers haven't been sent out yet, so I would like to assume they're still interviewing people? I don't see a reason to rush offers since the program starts in August. Good luck to you!
  13. @cyd_elise When did you apply? Have you interviewed yet?
  14. @kaitc Congratulations! I'll be interviewing for Critical Care ?
