Parkland Dallas, TX Nurse Residency Spring 2018

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Have been looking around in search that there might have been a thread started for the current application period for Parkland Hospital Dallas, Tx Nurse Residency for Dec 2017 grads, but have not seen one so decided to start this one. Is there anyone else out there that is applying to their program im interested in ICU and ED. I have always admired the willingness of the hospital staff when it comes to educating students and new hires, not to mention all the excellent experience that can be gained in this hospital. I am currently an LVN going into the last semester of transition graduating Dec 2017 (Thank you Lord), and have found a love with the ICU and the way it pushes me to think, adapt, and evaluate situations of the human body. So who out there is ready to get this thing going and be the best nurse possible??

Okay thank you. I applied late because I wanted to be loyal to my current job (THR Dallas) but they ended up hiring externals for the residencies (bummer) so now i have to go scavenge for any residencies left.

Anyways, congrats to the ones who got offers and I'm crossing my fingers.

Baylor Fort worth also has a opening for L&D GNs. They posted it on their facebook page today, which is BSWH Graduate Nurses. They said to email them at [email protected] if interested. They said also that it is prefered BSN and GPA of 3.0 or higher, but open to everyone.

Just thought I would share, cant hurt to try!

Thank you so much!! Ive applied at every Hospital and haven't had the opportunity to get called back for an Interview, It's so hard as I believe my ADN is holding me back. I have such a strong passion for L&D and would love a opportunity for an interview :(

I saw that too!! And I reached out to the recruiter who also said the manager preferred BSN. SUCH A BUMMERRRRRR!!!!

I feel ya on the ADN. I was just telling a friend of mine I wish I would have just got my BSN instead.

Yea I know, its a bummer I worked so hard to get to point to apply to nursing school having 3 kids under the age of 5 budget was the #1 reason on why I chose ADN.

Yup, I noticed that too. My application status still shows "applied"....:sniff:

Mine still says "applied" too. I got a hold of the recruiter and I think it wasn't supposed to post again. She told me they had 300 applicants and doesn't believe the manager is still searching for candidates... as they already set interviews up. I believe earlier you said you applied late to the ER residency? I did too, and I think they just stopped opening applications after the first 300 they received. :(

Wow. 3 kids under 5?! You are super mom! I was barely hanging on with a, now, 5 year old. I understand though. Keep pushing! I truly believe things happen the way they do for a reason. Praying we get units we want, eventually!

Yes I could only pray and have faith!!

I noticed a few days ago they opened my NNICU application and noticed today they posted the NNICU position again. I'm sure that is a mistake because I heard they already finished NNICU interviews.

I did a FaceTime interview with Mansfield Medical Center for Medical Telemetry last week. I have an in-person interview with Parkland for Neuro ICU on Tuesday. Even though I have my BSN I don't feel confidents about getting an offer for a Neuro ICU position. I would love to work at Parkland, especially in the Neuro ICU!

My goal is to live and work in North TX but I am not feeling confident about the Neuro ICU interview so I applied to 5 positions at Seton in Austin. I think it will all work out for us, don't give up hope!

Specializes in LTC, Pediatrics, Behavioral Health, Home Health.

It is a real bummer. I did see a manager while walking through the halls one day and asked why was it than some preferred to have a BSN over an ASN when the positions are for entry level floor GN positions, and what is the difference far as skill wise....and I'm still waiting on a definitive answer, LOL but I really do like Parklands teaching atmosphere. Unfortunately like most i too am in the waiting game but I have found luck in Houston area getting call backs after one week of putting in applications but Parkland is first choice

Dont go in nervous, go in with confidence. When you answer the questions answer them confidently because even if it is wrong they are looking for confidence and that you are trying and teachable. They know you dont know everything, but they want to know can they teach you! Basically they are looking for your attitude. You wouldn't have gotten the interview if you werent a competitive candidate. If parkland is what you want tell them that and express that you want to stay and work there too. They are looking for people who are dedicated because a lot of people go to parkland for the money and dont realize the work you are going to do. You will get the job! Tell them you came from out of town to do in person because you are serious about this! You will get the job!
