Parkland Dallas, TX Nurse Residency Spring 2018

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Have been looking around in search that there might have been a thread started for the current application period for Parkland Hospital Dallas, Tx Nurse Residency for Dec 2017 grads, but have not seen one so decided to start this one. Is there anyone else out there that is applying to their program im interested in ICU and ED. I have always admired the willingness of the hospital staff when it comes to educating students and new hires, not to mention all the excellent experience that can be gained in this hospital. I am currently an LVN going into the last semester of transition graduating Dec 2017 (Thank you Lord), and have found a love with the ICU and the way it pushes me to think, adapt, and evaluate situations of the human body. So who out there is ready to get this thing going and be the best nurse possible??

Hey lexx4! I just had an interview on Tuesday so I have not received or accepted an offer yet but I was under the impression Parkland paid better than a majority of the hospitals in the DFW area? Do you think to differs by specialty?

they pay about the same as anywhere else, they pay a couple cents lower than $25 starting out. Most other places like baylor, THR, medical city start you at $25 too. But once you finish the residency part of the job at parkland which for L&D is about 6 months you go up to $27 and some change for base pay plus differentials

Hey guys! I got the Neuro ICU position today! Thank you all for the advice and support. For those of you who have accepted offers at Parkland, I look forward to working with you all! For those of you still waiting, you got this!

@Shelby_M_P CONGRATS! I knew you would get it and hopefully well see each other at orientation. Do you start Feb 5th?

@keunnamonau Thanks! I start February 19th!

Is Parkland still asking for y'all to sign a 3 year contract upon hire? Heard this from a couple of my friends and wondering if it's true.

Depending on what area you choose. Critical care, L&D, and OR is 3 years. Med-surg is 2 years

Did anyone apply to the Parkland Trauma residency?

I applied for trauma starting that starts in January. I was asked to provide a copy of my BLS card but nothing else so far.

I applied to both Trauma and Hospitalist Medicine Residency. I received an email a week after requesting a copy of my BLS card.

I noticed that under my status it says we are currently reviewing all applications. Under next step, it is blank.

Today, I got together with a couple of my friends I graduated with and they applied to various positions at parkland a while back. Apparently they got this CPR email as well, but never heard anything? I'm not sure if it's just an email the send out or if they are really actively looking into our applications.

Have you or any of your friends interviewed for General Surgery? I applied to General Surgery and Surgical Specialties and so far, they have both only requested for my CPR card.
