U.S.A. Texas

hello all,

I am applying to parklands cc and trauma internship. Can anyone say anything good or bad about this program?? any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!

I know friends that went thorough it. They said it was tough as all get out, but they learned more than you could ever imagine.

It's said 6 months in Parkland Trauma is like 2 years elsewhere. As soon as I'm done it's the FIRST internship program I'm applying to. Burn ICU, Emergency, PLUS Medical, Respiratory, Neuro and Surgical trauma ICU with graduate credit? I CAN'T WAIT! :lol2:

I hope people who have went through this internship reply so we can get the current 411.

Specializes in ICU, ER, HH, NICU, now FNP.

I'd like to see how they are offering grad credit - out of curiosity.

Specializes in Oncology/BMT/ MICU/ SICU.

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

That sounds like an awesome program. It says it is desgined for someone with a BSN. I wonder if they would take someone with an associates?

You never know until you ask. Even if you don't get that program, they can put you in one of the other critical care internships.

psst, word is Parkland nurses are getting a raise!

How much would you make at Parkland now, out of curiosity.

Click on "RN 1". It will show you the pay range at the bottom.

and yes, we did recently get a raise to the levels listed on the website, which was considered a "market adjustment"....definitely makes them very comparable to the others in town.

As for the trauma/icu internship, when I started in January of 2005, they were only admitting RN's with a BSN or higher to this program, however, ADN's are eligible for most of the other critical care programs, just not the all inclusive one. If you want experience out the wazzoooo, it's the place to be....if it can be seen anywhere, you'll see it there!

I am VERY interested in the program, but as I understand it, it only starts in August/September. I'll be graduating with my BSN this December (2006), but I'm not sure what to do for those 8 months...any suggestions?

Maybe they would hire you to work as an RN in some capacity while waiting for the internship to begin?
