Hi all,
I'm somewhat new to this forum. I applied to Parkland's MICU and SICU residency. I've already received the email saying my apps were forwarded to the hiring manager. I'm looking for any info on what the hiring process is like, far as, how long after receiving the email did you get an interview and also any info on how the residency works. My dream is either to get into the ED or one of the critical care areas. I know this would be a great opportunity to be employed at a Level I trauma center. Any advice, tips, connections and info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I'm new to the site, and wow!!! This website is amazing! This would have been an awesome resource when I was in nursing school. Anywho, I wanted to share my news. :) I applied for the ER residency about 3wks ago, got an interview on the 13th, and got the call from my recruiter on 17th offering me a position. I am beyond psyched for the ER! The program starts the 24th, 16 wks of clinical and classroom time, then they make a decision as to offer u a 2 yr contract. (At least that is my understanding). Congrats to those that have landed their desired positions!!! So happy I found this thread. :-) My question is what is the likelihood that they don't offer the two yr contract??? :/
Yeah, this site is awesome! Welcome! : ) Its my understanding that the contract is a mandatory thing - that if you are offered the internship, the 2 year contract is expected of you. I found out on Friday that I wasn't selected for the L&D position...which is for sure disheartening, but I'm certain God has something else up his sleeve. My husband is probably relocating next summer for his job, so maybe this is best. : )
Well that is interesting. I have not heard they decide after your training if they want to offer you a contract. I thought we would be signed in before they train us at all. Also, I was told by recruiter to call her back within the week to get the paperwork started etc... I called, and not have heard back. Which is weird bc she was very clear on giving me her number and making sure I call her. I also got some kind of mass email from Parkland (not my recruiter) saying that I am not being considered for the SICU late Friday night. YET, I was given and offer, and accepted on Tuesday. I have no idea what to do, and on pins and needles here.

Congrats you guys! I waited as long as I could stand and finally gave in and called today. Concerning L&D, she said they should have decisions by the end of this week, in case anybody else is waiting for it.
