Parkland Critical Care Nurse Residency Sept 2012

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hi all,

I'm somewhat new to this forum. I applied to Parkland's MICU and SICU residency. I've already received the email saying my apps were forwarded to the hiring manager. I'm looking for any info on what the hiring process is like, far as, how long after receiving the email did you get an interview and also any info on how the residency works. My dream is either to get into the ED or one of the critical care areas. I know this would be a great opportunity to be employed at a Level I trauma center. Any advice, tips, connections and info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I loooove that stethoscope too! Do you guys know how long orientation day is?

Yeah I figure your going to hear mixed reviews no matter what hospital you work at. I can't wait to see the new facility when it's completed

Monday is 8-5 but I'm not sure about the rest of the week

I am sure everyone is getting ready for bed tonight. I just had a quick questions that maybe you guys can answer... When looking at the sample contract it says something about insurance after our 4 month program. Does that mean we are not getting insurance until that point? I am just a little confused because I read that, and when looking on the benefit brochure it says on the first day of employment we get health insurance. Is that not true since this is a trial period?

HI! I just joined ALLNURSES and wondering why I didn't sign up before I entered Nursing School. I looked up this thread and was wondering if I could get any info. I'll be graduating this May. I have been offered a position from Parklands MICU Residency and have officially accepted:woot:. I was floored when I got the job offer. So far I've taken the Medication Test and made a 95%. SO that is exciting. I was wondering if anyone has any advice, I will be scheduling to take my NCLEX soon any advice on how to study? I'm taking a HESI review course as well as NCSBSN. I'm wondering when I should expect an offer, how is the program going for everyone!!!!!!!??????????? And also must I have my RN license before I even start the residency????!!! IF anyone could help me with any of these questions I would much appreciate it! I'm nervous, excited, and so happy that I was offered the position!!!:roflmao: But I'm also nervous about the whole process and if I will pass my boards because I don't want to lose the opportunity and I hear Parkland trains nurses SO good!!!

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes. You must have your license before they will let you start. It is a new rule.

How is the program for anyone who has gone through it? Can anyone recommend how they prepared for NCLEX and passed?
